Aloha, my name is Darrell Grindstaff and I am an artist/musician based in Honolulu, Hawaii. My Web site features original fine art paintings of Hawaiian scenes, fine art prints, illustrations, photography, my first poster, some 3D illustrations, one short 3D animation and my screen-printed Mighty Mo, Bad To The Bone T-shirts and tank tops, which commemorate the USS Missouri battleship. (The USS Missouri is now a floating museum permanently located at Pearl Harbor, just a ship's length from the USS Arizona Memorial.)
Born and raised Bucharest, Romania under a totalitarian regime after WWII, my only way to reach out for freedom in this system was through my self expression in the field of visual arts. Though restricted by the communist system in many ways, the universal culture that was still permitted became the only source of inspiration, hope, and a link with humanity. My 30 years of New York experience reflects the form and substance of my work that shaped and solidified my current style. The body of work is primarily large canvas paintings, drawings, and digital art in multimedia.
I enjoy taking what is, and turning it into what it *could* be - I tend to see things in a different light, and my photography reflects that. I create multi-sized prints, note cards, and bookmarks, and have MANY galleries of images to bring you hours of visual enjoyment on my website. My work varies from floral macro to unique abstracts, to spiritual/emotional work, with many images being a fusion of all three.
