Massage Basics

Massage is the practice of applying structured or unstructured pressure, tension, motion, or vibration — manually or with mechanical aids — to the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, joints, lymphatic vessels, and organs of the gastrointestinal system to achieve a beneficial response. Massage Therapy is performed primarily by a professional Massage Therapist but is often used as a form of therapy by other Healthcare practitioners such as Chiropractors, Osteopaths and Physical Therapists.

The types of massage I offer aid the processes of injury healing, relief of psychological stress, for pain management pain, and for the improvement of circulation. Explanation of the types of massage I am qualified to offer are listed in the Profile and Credentials section below.

In my practice I want you to be comfortable, therefore I have several treatment options available that involve lying on a massage table, sitting upright in a massage chair, or lying on a pad on the floor.

Communication

Good communication is essential to effective massage. Before we begin we will discuss the type of treatment expected: intention of the massage, areas to be massaged and to be avoided in full body massage, the amount of pressure that is comfortable, preferred techniques and how they will affect your body and overall wellbeing. Your first visit will include discussion of your medical history and current physical condition.

AbsolutePeak Hypnosis Center
Does hypnosis really change lives? It does with the right hypnotherapist!

When people tell you that change is hard, they have no idea how easy and effortless it can be with the right tools, namely hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

However, not all hypnotherapists are created equally. Many are under-qualified or under-educated, have virtually no experience, or are merely using outdated techniques and therapies, resulting in an ineffective process.

At our New York City Hypnotherapy center, using a unique approach to hypnotherapy, namely 5-PATH hypnotherapy, the AbsolutePeak Hypnosis Center has helped many people change their lives within days or weeks, even after the first session, with the incredible power of hypnosis, the right way.

Amy Ward Brimmer
I teach the Alexander Technique, a body-mind method of learning to release excess tension in order to regain natural movement, restore health, recover from trauma, or explore the energetic connection between body, mind, and spirit. Using gentle touch and verbal guidance, in an hour-long private lesson, we let go of unconscious habit and reconnect to our authentic selves. I specialize in applying the AT to childbirth and the performing arts, but people from all walks of life can benefit from Alexander lessons. Semi-private lessons and group classes also available.

Andrea Carter, Certified MindScape & BodyTalk Instructor
Is Your HEALTH IMPORTANT TO YOU?

Do you want a UNIQUE, EFFECTIVE SOLUTION to complex pathologies?

DO YOU WANT TO LIVE WITH ENERGY AND VITALITY?

Our bodies act as a vehicle for us to move through life. Don't you think it's important to know a little about how your body works, and what you can do to maintain and service it?

Your Body is naturally designed to heal itself. When all parts of the body are in proper communication and synchronization, healing happens naturally. Due to the stressors of daily life, these lines of communication can become compromised resulting in disease, injury and pain.

The BodyTalk System is designed to teach people how to effectively restore, promote communication and synchronization in the body and mind. Together they initiate the natural healing and repair of all aspects of the body.

BodyTalk can be learned and used by anyone as a tool to promote healing for themselves or others.

Knowledge is empowerment, and in stressful situations, (be it illness or economic times), wouldn't you like to have the tools and knowledge to help yourself?

BodyTalk can be learned by heath practitioners and integrated seamlessly into any other health modalities.

MindScape, a course that enabled The BodyTalk System techniques to come to life, teaches one how to rewire the brain. Neurons are brain cells, and we have approximately 100 billion in our brain. Each one of those cells is capable of over 100,000 connections for communication, which means that our brain has the ability to make over 60 billion connections!

Astonishingly, we only use a fraction of what we are capable of using. The average person uses only 5% of their brain because they haven't been trained to do otherwise.

Wouldn't you like to expand how much of your brain you use?

Wouldn't you like to expand your memory bank?

Wouldn't you like your decisions to be made more easily?

Thousands of people just like you have taken this training & changed their lives...

Wouldn't you like to be next?

Classes are taught by Andrea Carter across Canada, should the one you'd like to attend be full please look at http://ww.understandhealing.com/?page_id=40 for other options, or contact her directly to set up a private course, andreacarter@me.com

Arida Emrys, Certified Trager Practitioner, Reiki Maste
I practice both The Trager Approach and Reiki.

Gentle, yet deeply effective, The Trager Approach, also known as Psychophysical Integration, uses movement to relax the body/mind, ease pain, release habitual patterns, reduce stress, improve athletic perfomance, ease chronic illness. Though the sensations are gentle, the work is profoundly deep.

Both Trager and Reiki are gentle, nurturing and very safe making them appropriate for use by geriatric, pregnant or self-conscious clients, as well those recovering from addiction and abuse.

Ati Petrov DHHP, DIHom(Pract.)
Heilkunst and Sequential Therapy - modern holistic medicine at its best!

We are finally able to re-visit our past and change reality as we remember it. Or at least the way it impacts us today. Individual remedies are chosen each month with the purpose of releasing from the body memory the effects of old trauma. Stress reduction is instantaneous and old emotional patterns are gently transformed into a new healthy outlook.

Each step of the way you are supported with gentle and safe homeopathic remedies to assist natural healing and detoxification. Emotional and mental conflicts are discussed in light of the impact they have on present symptoms and life difficulties. You are guided through a personal journey or re-discovery of your full life potential.

This treatment is especially effective as a preventive approach geared toward the removal of inherited disease and optimizing your health for the future. It is equally effective in the reversal of existing disease conditions and a restoration of health - for people of all ages.

Only homeopathic preparations and bio-feedback technology is used due to its easy application and quick results. In our hurried lifestyle this approach is most effective to provide quick shifts in our state of mind, opening up time and space for our inner work - something hard to achieve with our loaded schedules.

Body-Psychotherapy of Seattle
Core Energetics is a body-oriented psychotherapy that heals old images, blocks & life patterns, freeing up energy and our joy.

Traditional psychotherapy seeks congruence in a person's thinking, emotions and actions/life choices. Body oriented psychotherapy goes further with its understanding that, along with thought and emotion, the physical body is also profoundly affected by our life experiences.

For example, imagine a small child who becomes afraid. He will suck in his breathe, cutting it off at the diaphragm. His shoulders lift and tense, his neck shortens. The eyes bug out in alarm. This posture prepares him to flee or fight as necessary.

When the danger passes and the child is soothed and reassured, his muscles relax, he can let out his air and take a new full deep breath, taking in life, sustenance, and the relationships available to him. Now he can move forward and be present to whatever life has to offer.

If the child doesn't have the comfort to allow his system to relax, the tension can persist in the muscles and over time will affect his body posture. The emotion and experience of fear and alarm may become frozen in the system. The young developing body reinforces and sustains the experience of fear and distrust. This can effect the child's personality and his perceptions of the world around him. He may grow up thinking there is danger when no threat is present. His life is limited from within by the old experiences held in the system.

Body-oriented therapy brings awareness and release to the blocks on all levels of being: in the mind, body, emotions and the choices we make. Together we can bring awareness to your issues and employ your will to effect change and open to greater possibility in your life.

BRAZOS VALLEY HYPNOSIS Gail Fogle, C.Ht.
I use hypnosis and Emotional Freedom Technique hand in hand with wonderful results. I teach EFT and self hypnosis to my clients in order for them to help themselves when it is not possible for them to call or come into the office. Motivational coaching is involved in much of the work I do. I work with many people who have been in abusive situations such as being molested as a child, abusive relationships with siblings and parents, and clients who have witnessed horrific activity at the hands of others. I work with many recovering alcoholics and substance abusers, with wonderful results. I find age regression and past life regression very beneficial when trying to find a cause of a behavior or feeling. I sometimes have clients draw a picture of a tree, I then interpret the drawing and it tells me about their life from birth to the present. It also gives me information about how they feel about themselves and their future. Living in the area of Texas A&M University and Blinn College, I see many students both undergraduates and students in the doctoral programs along with many professors. My work is wonderful for stress and focus and works wonders in the academic area. Clients participating in golf, baseball, football, track, gymnastics, rodeo, and runners all have improved their skills and confidence after working with me.
