Cedar Springs Renewal Center offers a unique blending of physical and spiritual renewal. The rejuvenation process is accomplished with a gluten free/casein free diet. The colon and liver experience a natural detox with whole foods that cleanse and renew the body.
Our extended recovery clientele adapt well into our cleansing program and experience renewal on many levels. Often people who are addicted to alcohol, drugs or certain kinds of foods (sugar, caffeine or refined carbohydrates) are unaware that they are gluten intolerant. If a person has a gluten sensitivity, it is because they have developed a sensitivity to the protein in particular grains such as wheat. This person needs to experience a gluten free diet which they will at one of our healing retreats
The relationship between gluten intolerance, alcoholism and food addiction is well documented. Food and alcohol addicts often suffer from low blood sugar and mood swings. This is because gluten (for people who are allergic to it) sets off a feel good endorphin reaction and alters the brain chemistry making them feel better. Eliminating sugar as well as caffeine, processed foods and white flour and replacing them with organic whole foods is a key part of our whole food nutrition and long term recovery.
Participants in our healing retreats often discover that when they let go of unhealthy foods, their energy and mental acuity improve on every level.
