Through 10 sessions, a Rolfer will release restrictions/adhesions in a client's connective tissue to create better alignment within gravity. Connective tissue surrounds muscles, bones, and organs. When there is trauma--physical (accident or surgery), emotional (loss of a loved one) mental (job stress), a person's connective tissue hardens, thickens, and shortens. This pulls bones out of normal alignment and creates pain.

Rolfing works to release those hardened places and allows for greater range of motion. Clients report feeling lighter, more ease in movement, feeling taller, disappearance of acute aches and pains and even chronic pain. Their posture improves; they have a sense of vitality and increased well being.

After the initial 10 sessions, which can be either 1 week to 1 month apart, the client should return for a "tune-up" once or twice a year and especially after any kind of trauma.
