Abundantia and Lakshmi, Goddesses of Good Fortune

Do you find yourself experiencing financial lack? The causes of this include negative programming regarding money, or you could be going through a difficult cycle in your life and you may find yourself too ill too work, or cannot find adequate employment in your chosen field. Or perhaps you have become too dependent on others and need to find balance with your own possessions and outflow of resources.

Doreen Virtue wrote:
“While fulfilling our life’s mission, we may need material support. The spirit world is very happy to contribute to this support, if we’ll ask them. Two goddesses in particular, Abundantia and Lakshmi, are powerful and nurturing divinities who can help us with abundance issues. After all, sometimes Lightworkers are better at giving than receiving, which can cause imbalances and blockages. Abundantia and Lakshmi also give us the confidence to follow our dreams and aspirations.”
Abundantia is a beautiful goddess of success, prosperity and good fortune. She is also considered a protector of savings, investments and wealth. She helps lift one out of "poverty consciousness" and into a place of gracious acceptance, peace and joy.

In Roman mythology, Abundantia brought money and other goods to people while they slept, her gifts falling from a cornucopia (“horn of plenty”) that she carried. In the Norse myths she was called Fulla, and was the attendant of Frigg who was the goddess of the atmosphere. Fulla acted as intermediary for Frigg and often performed favors for mortals who called upon the goddess to assist them.

Here is an affirmation or prayer to show your faith and readiness to be helped:
“Abundantia, help me to be like you, knowing that all my desires are met in all ways. Replace any worries that I may have with joy and gratitude. Thank you for you gifts, guidance and protection. I am truly grateful and fulfilled for I know I am completely taken care of now and in the future.”
The goddess Lakshmi’s name is derived from the Sanskrit word Laksya, which means “goal” or “aim.” She is portrayed as a lovely, golden-skinned moon goddess of prosperity and forture who brings blessings of abundance to all. She also represents beauty, generosity and happiness. She is known as consort to the sun god, Vishnu and is said to be his companion in all of his lifetimes. She is shown on a lotus adorned in the colors of gold and red representing prosperity and power.

Devotees believe that Lakshmi resides in a place where virtue, righteousness, truth and compassion prevail.

Lakshmi in her wisdom knows that it takes more than just wealth to bring happiness, so she also guides human beings in their career choices and to find their true life’s work which creates a feeling of deep joy and fulfillment.

Lakshmi, like Abundantia loves a joyous and grateful heart. One way to connect with the energies of Lakshmi is to chant her mantra, “Om Namah Lakshmi Namah.”

I invoke you, O Goddess Lakshmi

Who is the color of gold,

Brilliant like the sun

Who shines with the fame of herself

Who is burnished like the moon

Who is adored by the Gods

Garlanded with lotus flowers,

As beautiful as the petals of a lotus

Who protects all her devotes

The bringer of wealth and the possessor of gold,

I invoke you, O Goddess Lakshmi

May you bring me prosperity.
