Tsunami Disaster – How Can We Heal?

Lately there has been so much on the news regarding the Tsunami event. How can anyone explain why such natural disasters occur? Is it just the earth shifting? Were all those people victims being in the wrong place at the wrong time? There have been natural disasters for centuries and one thing we can always say that is created from them….it always brings up our unconscious beliefs and attitudes and very deep fears we all harbor inside us. Fears we do not even like to discuss for fear of discussing them. It’s better left unaddressed in our unconscious. It’s better not to talk about them after all. We are far too busy with our lives to allow our feelings to manifest and take responsibility for them. The problem is that these beliefs can affect us in a very negative way.
We create as children beliefs and attitudes about ourselves and life which are taught and learned from our experiences, people and events that influence us the most. We are taught to focus on our weaknesses, not our strengths. Our parents’ beliefs about life and themselves are passed down to us and what we do with them is our choice. We feel powerless. We believe we are victims and cannot change what happens. It is reinforced every day to our unconscious. Look at how we are brainwashed by the drug commercials. Look at what we expect to happen as we age. Look at the cliché’s and myths we grow up with that become our reality because we choose to believe them.
When we grow up afraid, we learn to detach from spirit. Oh, some people go to church and pray but are they really in sync with their beliefs or are they just going through the motions because of their surrounding beliefs about not going? Is it fear that makes them go? Or do they go coming from a place of love?
We all pick up other peoples thoughts. Our thoughts create emotion and emotions bring in our reality. If we change our thoughts then our feelings change. One person changing can affect another. Fear consumes. The more we focus on and unconsciously feel fear, the more it manifests. Our lives follow our most predominant thought. What we feel the most, we bring in to us to press the nerve that will feel it all over again! Whether it is a person, place, thing or event that will bring it up for us; life comes from us, not at us. Most people are unaware that this becomes their reality and resist life when it comes through unfamiliar templates. We try to control life so it will come in through what we are familiar with. When it does not, our issues will always come up for us to heal them.
When we are born we come into this world attached to Source. Children are naturally connected to Spirit. They believe in “magic” and in themselves. It’s natural for them to believe in something other than what they see. They share these experiences and insights with us and we tell them it is their imagination. They learn to become disconnected and we pass down our fears and beliefs to them.
What does all this have to do with natural disasters? We don’t have all the answers. Disasters challenge our internal belief systems. They can bring up what we need to heal in ourselves. They can reinforce our victim mentality or they can provide us with opportunities to believe in something bigger and have more faith in what we don’t see and understand. What if there are reasons beyond our comprehension? What if this disaster can actually help by bringing up from the unconscious our suppressed memories and beliefs we need to change in ourselves and never deal with?
We are born with a purpose. That purpose is to find our “real” selves through the illusion of who we think we are based on what we experienced and learned. We come in with a contract. We learn lessons and we move on. We do not know what everyone’s contract is nor are we supposed to. If we continue to think we are victims, we will continue to bring in life based on that template. Things happen for reasons. We do not know what they all are and must start to believe in a higher purpose or our fears will create even more of a life that is less than we deserve.
My compassion is great towards all people who experience anything evenly remotely similar to the Tsunami event. We cannot control anything outside of ourselves, we only can control our reactions. Disasters can give us a chance to believe in something else and to have faith in our higher power. To value ourselves and others. To watch our thoughts and feelings we project outside of ourselves knowing they can affect the world and to appreciate more everyone in our lives we sometimes take advantage of. Most of all to rid ourselves of fear and to focus on love. If everyone would focus on love, then THAT feeling would go out and create a better life and a better world.
