JIN SHIN JYUTSUWhat is Jin Shin Jyutsu?
Jin Shin Jyutsu, translated as the Art of the Creator Through Compassionate Man. Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ) is a healing art form similar to acupuncture but using therapeutic touch instead of needles. After the therapist feels the different pulses running through the energy centers/meridians in the body, the areas that have weaker energy or "blockages" can be addressed. Then the Jin Shin Jyutsu therapist applies light pressure to various parts of the body eliminating blockages and balancing energy flow. This will then promote physical, emotional and mental healing.
The Jin Shin Jyutsu philosophy is to balance or harmonize body, mind and spirit all at once. Originating in Japan, this ancient art is a time-honored method of healing which releases bodily tensions that manifest in various symptoms, often referred to as therapeutic or healing touch. In ancient times, traditional people saw no distinction between body, mind and spirit. Their practices used to assist the body naturally promoted physical, emotional and spiritual wholeness.
How Jin Shin Jyutsu Works:
The body contains energy pathways that feed life into all cells; when one or more of these paths become blocked, the "dammed up" effect can lead to physical and/or emotional discomfort or pain.
A simple analogy to help understand how Jin Shin Jyutsu works:
What makes a car engine start when you turn on a key? Hint: The battery of the car.
The battery is the necessary energy source for the various functions of the car. Now, what makes a heart beat or breathing or digestion possible? An energy source is necessary for the body to function; that source is the Battery of Life. We must keep our life battery, our energy source, working at its optimum in order for our body functions to work properly.
The Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner will ask a brief series of questions to understand your health needs. She will assess your physical state using body listening, how your physical body naturally lies, and "listening" to 12 pulses felt in the wrists. All of this helps to determine what level, or depth, your needs are located.
While you lie on a table, the practitioner applies light pressure to various parts of your body (over clothing), called flows or holds, to eliminate blockages. This technique re-harmonizes and balances energy flow, promoting healing. There is no massage, manipulation of muscles or use of drugs or substances. Sessions last approximately 50 minutes. After the hands on session, you will be given self help tips to learn to continue your healing in between scheduled Jin Shin Jyutsu sessions.
Why would you schedule a Jin Shin Jyutsu session?
If you would like a natural method to address existing stress or health and/or mental/emotional concerns, or for those simply wishing to actively participate in maintaining your health, harmony and well-being, Jin Shin Jyutsu is a simple and powerful tool!
Jin Shin Jyutsu helps unblock the natural energy of the mind and body for increased health and happiness, this will:
Help eliminate stress
Create emotional equilibrium
Relieve pain
Aid acute or chronic existing health conditions
Promote mental alertness
Eliminate fatigue
Improve mood (aid in conditions of depression/anxiety)
How often should one consider Jin Shin Jyutsu sessions?
Jin Shin Jyutsu is a specialized art, often referred to as therapeutic/healing touch therapy. Because sessions are individualized, it will depend on your needs. For major health projects, it would work well to schedule weekly sessions or even daily sessions to promote healing from within. For emotional or chronic physical projects, weekly or bi-weekly sessions are recommended until needed. After that monthly maintenance can be done to keep all the energy pathways unblocked.
REIKI
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a simple technique for transferring energy from the giver to the receiver. The word Reiki actually means "Universal Life Energy"? and is one form of Energy Healing. Anyone who believes in a God (as we do) believes He alone is the source of all life energy. Reiki, itself actually originated in Tibet and was discovered by a Christian Japanese monk, Dr. Mikao Usui, seeking to understand the way Jesus healed while on this earth.
Science has found that our bodies are electric; small currents of electricity run through it to keep cells functioning properly (letting in nutrients and out wastes). Sometimes, because of stress, this system gets thrown out of balance causing us not to feel our best or function optimally. If our supply of life-force energy is depleted by stress (anger, fear, lack of nutrients, lack of sleep, pain etc.) we suffer from physical, emotional and mental exhaustion causing us to be more irritable and depressed than would be normally. Taking time to re-balance that energy system is what energy healing or Reiki is all about. We must realize we play a conscious part in this whole process by what we think about or focus on. Our thoughts are all energy, each having their own vibrational frequency. Too much negativity brings our whole energy system down.
How Reiki Works:
When a person comes in to get energy work or Reiki, the therapist will place their hands over the 7 main energy centers (called Chakras) of the body that may be out of balance. The balanced energy from the therapist?s hands will cause the stressed person's frazzled energy to come into resonance with the balanced (coherent) and organized energy of the therapist. This is similar to how one tuning fork makes another vibrate at the same frequency after a few minutes (we've seen this in Physics class). Energy work will bring you back into balance more emotionally which will help any physical or mental condition.
Reiki has a calming, soothing and deeply relaxing affect on you that can last several days or longer.
To add to this affect, the homeopathic Bach Flower Remedies can be prescribed for home use to keep balancing emotions long-term. Both Reiki and Bach flower Remedies work on purely the laws of Physicals just like the drugs, vitamins and food we eat. Each work on the body within the laws of chemistry. Many hospitals now offer Reiki and other forms of energy work like Acupuncture.
Why would someone do an energy work session?
If you are feeling upset about a specific problem or stress in your life.
If you need the strength to "let go" of a person, or an emotion (fear/worry or anger) in your life you can't seem to do on your own.
If you are in chronic (or acute) pain as it will lower stress so much it will ease this pain.
If you are sick and need extra healing or if you feel "out of balance" and can't really attribute it to anything specific.
How often should one consider Reiki sessions?
There is no limit as you cannot "overdo" it. If you are going through a severe emotional crisis as often as once a week can be taken advantage of or daily if someone is very sick or has experienced a tragic loss. Most people tend to do it monthly like a massage to keep themselves emotionally healthy. Discounted Reiki packages are availabe to keep the cost down and give you a financial break for taking this part of your emotional helath seriously.
