I currently have a private holistic healing practice where I offer sessions that incorporate Reiki, Healing Touch, Guided Imagery, Relaxation Techniques, Mindfulness Based Stress Management and Healing Herbs. I believe in the benefits of an integrative approach to health and health care, and I am willing to work with clients and their healthcare practitioners in exploring ways to create and strenthen an integrative plan of health care. I particularly enjoy working with clients who are preparing for surgery and undergoing chemotherapy. I also teach classes on a variety of topics, including Mindfulness Based Stress Management and Healing Herbs - including the use of pure essential oils and flower essences. I facilitate an Ai Chi aquatic exercise group and offer Reiki attunements.
I was a registered nurse for more than 35 years, in perioperative, acute and long term care. I am a non-traditional Usui Reiki Master/Teacher and a Healing Touch Practitioner. I have studied the use of Guided Imagery to assist individuals prepare for surgery with Peggy Huddleston. I have studied medicinal herbalism with Rosemary Gladstar, Matthew Wood and Phyllis Light. I incorporate the use of essential oils and healing herbs in my work. I helped to establish and then, for 7 years, coordinated a program of Complementary and Alternative Medicine at Mt Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor, VT. I have also worked with aromatherapy in area nursing homes. I facilitate a practice of Ai Chi with community members in the hospital's heated therapeutic pool. I am a pracitioner in the Healing Arts Clinic, located at the hospital.
I believe in the connection of body, mind and spirit. I believe that we are primarily spiritual beings in physical bodies to learn the lessons that involve physical experience. In my practice I work with individuals to reach a place of holistic balance - a place of healing. I experience my role as one who guides and supports the process - a partnership and journey in which both travelers deepen their knowledge and understanding, activating an innate potential for wholeness.
Hours by appointment. Usual one hour session - $50 After initial session, half hour sessions are available for $30.
I have come to my present understanding of healing after years working in an environment where there is little or no respect for the very things that I have found to be most powerful. While still working in the operating room as an RN, I began to work with energy healing, first Reiki and then Healing Touch. And to my amazement, I found that many of the basic premises on which I had built my professional life did not hold true. There were other ways of seeing and doing and experiencing that were very powerful and promoted health and well-being in ways that I had not previously experienced. I have expanded my experience into the plant world with similar results. Along the way, I have written about my experiences will all aspects of healing and in this blog I am sharing my thoughts and experiences with those of you who might be interested in pausing long enough to read and perhaps even ponder them. I also welcome comments and thoughts that you might have to share. Healing does not happen in isolation. It is always a partnership. And the journey continues.
Ai Chi is a form of aquatic exercise that combines smooth flowing physical movements, development of core muscles, mindful breathing, and cultivation of a quiet mind all done while submerged in neck deep water. I facilitate Ai Chi practice in the Miller Therapeutic Pool at Mt Ascutney Hospital in Windsor, VT. The water in the pool is maintained close to body temperature which allows slow movement without the muscle cramping that would be more common in colder water. I began my practice as part of my own healing journey and that experience is documented in an entry that you can find on my blog. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
I will be offering herbs walks on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, beginning on May 27, 2009. The walks will be held at the Healing Arts Clinic, 293 County Road, Windsor, VT immediately adjacent to Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center. They will begin at 6:30PM and will end about 8PM as long as it is daylight. The purpose of the walks is to identify common cultivated and wild plants that have a history or are currently used for their healing properties. There will also be discussion of how to ethically harvest, and safely preserve and use these herbs in safe and simple remedies. The program is free of charge, however, donations will be accepted. Please feel free to contact me for further information or the answer to questions.
