Profile and Credentials

I was trained and certified in Hypnosis at The Hypnotherapy Center in Oakland, California. I have taken extensive additional Hypnosis training in Nevada and Massachusetts. I have been personally trained and certified in EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) by Gary Craig, the founder of EFT and owner of the huge emofree.com website. I've taken four additional years of training in EFT in California, Ohio, Arizona and Australia. I was trained in HeartMath in California and I enjoy showing people how their thoughts instantly affect their Heart Variability Rate.
I've worked with children as well as adults for 30 years, and find that if one can give children the tools to handle their anxieties now, it prevents many problems later on. I enjoy giving people techniques that they can use on their own every day. So during a visit to my office, you will learn acupressure processes to make your life easier and more enjoyable. You will gain knowledge and awareness about the Law of Attraction and you will have an enlightening hypnosis session where we will get down to the basics of what is stopping you from living the life you want.
We all need to feel powerful and joyful. We all need to know how to create what we want here and now. But any of those three can change in an instant with new information, a different perspective or a change in motivation. We all realize that successful weight loss cannot be accomplished until you deal with the mind as well as the body. That’s why we offer four personal hypnosis sessions in order to reprogram your subconscious mind. For you to achieve your weight loss goals for good, the new suggestions and directions given to your subconscious mind during hypnosis are vital. In addition, the private Personal Empowerment coaching sessions will be geared toward helping you deal with your daily challenges in a smooth and calm manner.
This workshop also offers detailed instruction in the Law of Attraction. Most people don’t realize they are creating their reality through their thoughts and emotions. Those repeated thoughts and the resultant emotions, determine the success or failure of everything we do. It’s one thing to intellectually know this, but it’s another thing altogether to put it into practice in a consistent way. We also teach you how to reduce stress and remove the emotional charge (on anything that may be bothering you) through acupressure. You’ll learn how to do these simple fast acupressure techniques anywhere at any time, in order to relieve stress, insomnia, aggravation, anger or frustration.
Stress and anxiety have a lot to do with overeating because they cause us to eat when we’re not really hungry or to eat the wrong things. If you have a quick technique to reduce or remove stress and anxiety, that will go a long way toward solving a weight problem.
Recent research shows that we can’t release fat when our bodies are too acidic. Therefore, we offer two full private nutritional consultations (one at the beginning of the class and one three weeks later), a total body Biomeridian Scan, a bone scan, a body fat measurement, and an oxygen level assessment. These professional procedures will be done by a well-known doctor of Nutritional Biophysiology, Dr. Kurt Grange. During your nutritional consultations he will advise you on which foods to avoid as well as ideal foods to include in your diet, depending on your particular needs.
Body toxicity is something that the American public is becoming more and more aware of. The toxic load on our bodies because of environmental factors, additives, preservatives, chemicals and pesticides has actually become dangerous. Therefore we are offering 13 Infrared Sauna sessions to help detox your body.
Research has shown that many toxins which cannot immediately be flushed out of the body are hidden in or between fat cells. As a result, the body is reluctant to give up those fat cells later because that would release the toxins into the blood stream. Infrared Sauna is one of the most enjoyable, healthy ways to entice the body to release fat cells (and therefore the toxins) through perspiration, and flush them out for good. Infrared Sauna sessions also burn between 600-900 calories per session, and that certainly assists weight loss.

The Bio-Meridian Scan, Bone Scan, Body Fat Measurement, Oxygen Level Assessment and Nutrition Consultations will be done in the offices of Dr. Kurt Grange at Circle of Life Spa on your own schedule. You can pay the spa directly for these services, or choose not to take them at all. If you choose just the hypnosis sessions and the 4-week class, the cost is $596. The hypnosis sessions alone without the class are $500 total.
We are limiting the classes to six participants so that we can give more personal attention to each person. Also, a small class is more comfortable and is more conducive to mutual support. WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
There is nothing mysterious about hypnosis. It is a state of consciousness one enters and leaves naturally during everyday experiences. It feels very much like daydreaming, like the state between sleeping and waking. In this state you are more open to suggestions, because your brain wave vibrations change, giving you more access to your subconscious mind.
Your conscious mind is still fully aware of what is going on the whole time. In this very relaxed state your subconscious mind has the abilituy to accept information and suggestions given by the hypnotist. Hypnosis uses this natural human process to change negative patterns into positive patterns of behavior.
HOW DOES ONE ENTER A STATE OF HYPNOSIS?
There are five components necessary to achieve hypnosis, and the hypnotic state is based solely on the relationship between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.
Motivation - You must want to be hypnotized
Relaxation - Hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation
Imagination - You will actively use your imagination
Concentration - You will use your ability to concentrate
Suggestion - You will hear and respond to suggestions
The subconscious mind has no power to reason. It simply accepts and acts upon any fact or suggestion given it by the conscious mind. Advertisers understand this. They use television programs to induce a hypnotic trance, then provide you with hypnotic suggestions called commercials.
There is no question that you can be hypnotized. You've done it thousands of times. You did it when you were daydreaming and missed your turn off the freeway, or when you followed suggestions in a commercial to prefer a particular brand name that you saw repeatedly on television.
The hypnotic state is an excellent mental state for making changes in your life. That is because during hypnosis you can set aside limiting beliefs that may have been preventing you from achieving a more healthy, happy, prosperous you.
WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CONSCIOUS AND SUBCONSCIOUS MINDS?
It is important for you to understand the relationship between your conscious mind and your subconscious mind. The conscious mind (about 10% of your mind) is working right now as you are reading this. It is that part of you that is aware of what is going on right now. Decisions and choices are made by the conscious mind.
The subconscious mind (about 90% of your mind) can be compared to a computer in that it stores the data for all the experiences that we have ever had. It also automatically controls our bodily functions such as heart beating, breathing, eyes blinking, organs functioning, the immune system, muscles, bones and tissues from the cellular level to whole-body functioning.
The subconscious mind is creative, intuitive, irrational, and emotional. Because it's illogical, it can make you into anything you want to be: slender, rich, happy, famous. It can also keep you stuck in negative or limiting behavior. It contains your core beliefs about yourself, your values, as well as everything you've ever thought, every word you've ever heard or spoken, every experience you've ever had. And the subconscious mind must act on those beliefs. In other words, it can only create in your life what you believe, what has been suggested to you as the truth, whether it was REALLY the truth or not.
Your subconscious mind operates only on its programming, just like a computer. And just like a computer, your subconscious mind can be reprogrammed. The programming you are currently operating on has been placed there from many sources throughout your life, whether they were positive or negative. If your parents taught that you could achieve anything in life, that is the programming you are acting out now. If they taught you that life is hard and attaining money is a struggle, then you are making THAT programming come true.
In contrast, the conscious mind is logical and analytical and it is where we spend most of our time. It basically performs these functions:
1. The conscious mind analyzes and problem-solves, by evaluating whatever concern, situation or issue you are thinking of;
2. The conscious mind makes decisions that we may think are automatic, but are actually made by engaging a part of our subconscious mind;
3. The conscious mind uses what we call will power. But will power doesn't last, does it? You may mean well, but the new intention fails, and the old behavior returns;
4. The conscious mind also holds our working memory, the part of our mind we use every day in order to function.
However, all conscious decisions are influenced by the data stored in our subconscious mind.
SO HOW DO WE REPROGRAM OUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND?
By bypassing what scientists call the "critical factor." The critical factor is like a guard at the gate between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. It has the power to accept or reject suggestions coming into the subconscious mind. And it has the very best intentions. Its job is to protect us. Because change is viewed as a threat, any suggestion that does not match the existing programming automatically gets rejected. That's how it's accomplishing the goal of protecting us.
So the only way a real change can take place is to get the new programming into our subconscious mind. Three ways to get to the subconscious mind and bypass the critical factor is through our memories, habits and emotions. But this takes time, sometimes a lifetime.
The faster, easier way to bypass the critical factor is through hypnosis. Through the experience of relaxation, the critical factor seems to go to sleep for awhile. The conscious mind stays awake and can still make decisions. So now you're in control while your subconscious mind is receptive to any suggestion that your conscious mind wants to allow in.
HOW DOES HYPNOSIS FEEL?
You will remain conscious of your surroundings and you may not feel hypnotized, since you have experienced light levels of hypnosis at other times without knowing it. You may experience:
- A heavy feeling like you are sinking
- A sense of being light and floating
- A sense of energy moving through your body
- Different emotions
- A tingling sensation
- A sense of numbness
If you know that you MAY experience these sensations, you won't become alarmed. Just expect the trance to occur naturally and it will. Suggestions made while in hypnosis may stay with some individuals indefinitely. Others may need reinforcement. But the effects of hypnosis are cumulative. The more the techniques are practiced, and posthypnotic suggestions are acted upon, the more permanent the results become.
Parts Hypnotherapy
"PARTS HYPNOTHERAPY"
Have you ever had the experience of wanting to accomplish a goal or overcome an undesirable habit, only to find one part of you resisting change? In other words, one part of you wants something, while another part of you doesn’t want to pay the price.
This inner conflict occurs when we have two different parts of our subconscious mind pulling us in opposite directions. At one time there was some logic behind the attitude of each part, but consciously we don’t know what it was or is.
Freud called these parts “ego states.” Therapists today may call them “sub personalities, your “psychological community” or simply “parts.”
Let’s take the example of someone who wants to lose weight, quit smoking or succeed at a specific goal. Under hypnosis, when asked to speak, the conflicting part of your psychological community will tell the therapist exactly WHY they are causing you to overeat. Every part of your subconscious mind wants to help and protect you, but the reasoning may be outdated and no longer valid.
The challenge then is to get the conflicting part (the part that does not want to quit smoking, lose weight or succeed fabulously) to dialogue with the motivating part (the part that does want to be smoke free, fit and healthy or be a success.) The dialogue between these two parts is crucial to the resolution of the conflict so that you can move forward with your goals and dreams.
But what happens if the two parts can’t agree on a course of action? Most of the time they will agree to meet each other “halfway.” Or the conflicting part may choose to take on another role altogether, a gentler, more supportive role.
But sometimes the conflicting part is like a stubborn mule that refuses to budge from his/her position. In that case, the therapist can call upon Higher Self, that part of your subconscious mind that is always connected to Source (God, Infinite Intelligence, etc.)
Higher Self will gently speak to the conflict and suggest ways to resolve it. The conflicting parts, as well as the conscious mind, are listening. And what is amazing, is that the conflicting parts then agree to “get along” – they agree (sometimes grudgingly) to meet each other halfway, to take the advice of Higher Self. It sounds easy and simplistic, but must be handled with knowledge, care and skill. And it’s an amazing life-changing process which can facilitate permanent change.
Hypnosis, in one form or another, has been practiced for thousands of years. Parts Hypnotherapy has been practiced for at least a hundred years. But the technique of asking for the assistance of Higher Self is quite new. I was trained in this technique by the expert in the field, Roy Hunter, and I find it amazingly successful. It is extremely gratifying to see and hear about the lifestyle changes that clients have made after experiencing this new version of Parts Hypnotherapy.
