In some cases, we can trace the causes of our issues to specific occurances, in this lifetime. But there are many other forces at play upon each of us:
Soul Migrational Issues (Spiritual)
These are the issues the soul carries with it from one earthly life to the next through reincarnation. These are unresolved spiritual, emotional and personal relationship issues from previous lives that the soul comes back to resolve.
Tribal / National Issues (Mental)
This is the identification with the tribal history of the nation / people that we were born into, that we accepted upon ourselves or that we were brought up to believe; the national image, history and world position …
Trans Generational / Familial Issues (Emotional)
These are issues we inherited from our parents, which they may have inherited from their ancestors, some from many generations ago. And since they have never been addressed or resolved, we now have them. Perhaps each passing generation has added its own unresolved issues passing them on to us. We may be carrying the unresolved issues of dozens of generations.
Trans Biological Issues (Physical)
Our bodies are composed of elements derived from the air we breathe, the liquids we drink and the food that we eat. These elements come from many different sources and come with varying energy frequencies, both positive and negative. They affect the way we think, feel and act.
The Trauma of Birth
Then there is the trauma of birth; most people do not consider birth to be a trauma, but it can be. And for most of us it was; not only the birth, but the moment of conception and the whole pregnancy period may have been filled with turmoil and strife, depending on what was happening in the family, the community, and the world a large.
And all this is even before we lived through our first day on the planet!

Sometimes it seems that our thoughts have a mind of their own. They come uninvited, any time they feel like it, without a “By your leave”; without prior warning, no knock, nothing. And they move in, take over our mind; squatters, if you will.
And the same thought repeats itself over and over and over again; must think a lot of itself! And we are powerless to interfere.
Well, here are a few suggestions:
Thoughts come in “episodes”; there’s usually a beginning, an end, a middle, and a climax or crescendo: a short movie, if you will.
OK, so let’s take an unwanted thought; any one at random: say you keep thinking that your favorite dog gets run over by the neighbor’s truck, right in front of your house.
So the movie is about 2-3 minutes long; starts off nicely, with Fido skipping merrily along the sidewalk in front of the house. Then, without warning, as your neighbor is turning the corner, late for the football game, Fido runs out into the street and BAM!
And you can’t get this thought out of your mind; it plays over and over, at random, unexpected times, throughout the day, and night.
So try this: as the neighbor turns the corner, just before Fido runs out into the street,
1) Click the pause button on the remote: freeze the scene, click the off button, blank the screen, get up and do something else, like get a glass of water.
or
2) Freeze the scene, make it into a still picture, change the picture to glass, take a hammer and shatter the glass into a thousand pieces and watch them fall to the floor.
Try both methods. Choose whichever of them is easier for you or feels better. Repeat until whenever the thought (movie) starts to play, it automatically freezes and goes blank or shatters by itself without any conscious effort on your part.
Advice to Engaged Couples and Newly Weds
I have witnessed, both within my own family, in the outside world and in my practice, what can happen in a relationship if there is no common bond that can actually bind a couple together.
Well, let me digress (or maybe, progress) and say a bit about getting together as a couple in the first place: even if there is a strong attraction, be it physical, mental or emotional: Love; That does not seem to be enough to keep a couple together; the body will wither, the mind will change and the emotions will flutter. And love may turn into a dependency or habit. Unless, there is a third entity; the glue that binds the one to the other; the bond that binds, a mutual goal and lifetime commitment to it. The “it” needs to be greater that both of you, a driving force that can take both of you, like a boat down the river, or an ark during a flood (and floods there will be) ...
In my opinion, there are two good bonds; children and Religion or a Spiritual Practice (to be more politically correct, or any other proven external disciplinary way of life that both parties agreed to commit to whole-heartedly, abide by, follow and emulate; the goal). There are, of course, no guarantees even if both of these are there, but the chances are multiplied exponentially.
Without these, there is no common bond; it's just two people living separate lives together: convenient for a nice meal, some ambience, safe sex, and the occasional meaningful conversation ...
So, the intent or lifetime goal of both parties must be the same. Otherwise, both sides will be resentful, because, in any situation, for any important decision, no compromise can satisfy both of the parties, because their primary motivating goals are different; or they have no primary motivating goals and “just don’t feel like it” at the time. And so there is no improvement in the situation and resentments, anger, etc. build; and there is no possibility for a long-term relationship.
Love may sometimes seem to be obscured by a tendency towards negativity, insecurity and fear/anxiety. But this is who the person is at the moment; and they are perfect the way they are.
Love may sometimes seem to be obscured by a tendency towards not wanting to be so depended upon by the other, for their happiness, security and emotional wellbeing. But this is who that person is at the moment; and perfect the way they are.
Much of this may stem from residual family entanglements. Some behaviors may come from family control issues. Some behaviors may come from family insecurity issues.
There are a few key issues that need to be kept in mind: Trust! Honesty! One must trust the other, as the right hand trusts the left. And one must be honest and trustworthy, inside the relationship and in the world at large as well; trusting yourself, being honest with yourself and trusting your partner and being honest with your partner, and being trustworthy and honest in all your dealings in the world. In other words, your thoughts, speech and actions should always be in line with a clear conscience.
There are times when you will feel rejected or abandoned, based on your perception of the situation. There is usually no reason to feel this way; from the other’s standpoint, it's not about you, it may be about their family control issues.
At times you may feel that you would appear weak if you give in to the desires of the other. There is no reason to feel weak by giving in: remember the bond that binds; you can show your compassion and accommodation of what may be the other’s family insecurity issues.
Besides the above mentioned, or perhaps, because of the above mentioned, there may be a lack of real compassion and empathy on the part of both parties for each other. To see the world from the other persons heart and to trust the other person, that they are doing the best they can. To see them as perfect, the way they are. (That's not to say that there is no room for improvement.) To realize the person is always more important than any ideology or material object or goal; the relationship comes first.
Perhaps ask; what's the worst thing that can happen if the worst thing happens. Usually the answer is not such a big deal. Again, the third entity, the bond that binds, the trust in that everything that happens is only good.
There is a need for genuine compassion and complete acceptance of the other as perfect as they are; acknowledgement and acceptance of each others needs and idiosyncrasies and the commitment and willingness to live with them as they are, for as long as they are that way. Which, if you ask me, and as has been proven millions of times in the present and throughout history, cannot be accomplished without the "third party", the bond that binds one love to the other.
The other person; their feelings, hopes, dreams, goals must be your own as well: you are one; heads and tails of the same coin. One person, soul, living life in two bodies.
It says, “All beginnings are difficult”. And while this may be so, heading in the right direction, with the right foot, for the right reasons, towards the right goal, will ensure that the trip will be worthwhile and pleasant for you and for all of those who love you ...
Radiating Love Meditation / Exercise
Close your eyes and notice the area around your Heart or your Heart Chakra. Imagine that, in that spot, there is a small sphere of light, radiating like the sun …
Now, notice the feeling of love that you are radiating from this sphere of light; it is now a sphere of light and love, radiating from within you …
You are radiating love …
As you concentrate on the light and feel the love that you are radiating, notice how the sphere is getting larger and larger and with it, the light is increasing and the feeling of love is getting stronger and stronger …
Now, as the sphere grows larger and larger and the light and feelings of love grow stronger and stronger, radiate the light and love outward …
Outward to anyone you like …
Outward to everyone …
Outward to the universe …
Allow the sphere of light and love to grow until it encompasses your whole body …
Now, notice that the sphere surrounds you completely and you are now inside the sphere …
While you continue to radiate the light and the feelings of love in ever increasing intensity …
You are inside the sphere … Radiating light and love outward … And while you are radiating out, you are shielded and protected from any and all negative and unwanted external influences of any kind …
You have created an impregnable shield …
Only love, and positive energies are allowed in … only good thoughts and feelings … good and positive vibrations …
And just like nothing can touch the sun, as long as it is radiating light, in the same way, no negative or unwanted thoughts or feelings (imagined or real) can reach you as long as you are radiating Light and Love …

Elemental Subtle Energy Meditation
This procedure will use the Four Basic Elements that we are composed of; Fire, Water, Air and Earth to heal, clear, cleanse and unblock (for lack of better word) the Subtle Energy System of the body on all Four Energy Levels.
You will note that I have associated each Element with an Energy Level. A brief explanation follows:
Fire - representing the Spiritual; a small part of the Spirit or Soul permeates the whole body. The greater part of the Soul transcends the body.
Water - representing the Mental, also permeates the whole body; every organ, every cell has intelligence.
Air - Emotional; we can feel with and have feeling in every part of our body.
Earth - Physical; there are minerals in and light shining from every cell of our body.
Sit in a comfortable relaxed position in a place where you will not be disturbed. Music is OK.

Fire - Spiritual
Put your attention on your root chakra and imagine that there is a fire burning there. See the red color of the fire, hear the sound of the fire, feel the heat; as you do so notice the fire spreading along the meridians down your legs to your toes, up your body and along your arms to your fingers, up your body to the top of your head. Next notice the fire spreading from your root chakra up your spine: until your attention focuses on your sacral chakra.
Put your attention on the fire burning at your sacral chakra. See the orange color of the fire, hear the sound of the fire, feel the heat; as you do so notice the fire spreading along the meridians down your legs to your toes, up your body and along your arms to your fingers, up your body to the top of your head. Water - Mental

Air - Emotional

Next notice the air blowing from your root chakra up your spine: until your attention focuses on your sacral chakra.
Put your attention on the air blowing at your sacral chakra. See the air blowing orange, hear the sound of the air, feel the breeze; as you do so notice the air blowing along the meridians down your legs to your toes, up your body and along your arms to your fingers, up your body to the top of your head.
