Philosophy and Comments

To live fully one must accept the challenges that life offers daily. To love, to be listened to, to be grateful, and to experience inner peace and wisdom are the direct fruits of self-inquiry and surrender. The "state of mind" this represents fosters love with God, self, and others regardless of spiritual preferences.

Cedar Springs Spa Services and Infrared Sauna

Cedar Springs Spa Services

Heated River Rock Massage
Smooth stones and rich oils penetrate fatigued muscles. In this massage, the practitioner glides heated river rocks over large muscle groups with smooth sweeping strokes. Heat and pressure ease muscle tension and promote relaxation. Massage treatments are offered for 1 hour or for 90 minutes.

European Deep Cleansing Facial
Clients experience deep cleansing with exfoliation and natural face care products gently massaged into the skin. Warm moist towels and nourishing mask are applied for removing dry devitalized skin cells and improving circulation. With a relaxing neck and scalp massage, this treatment pampers you for 1 hour.

Aryuvedic Facial
This is a 100% organic and natural facial, using the curative principles of Aryuvedic medicine. Some of the recipes for these products have been handed down from generations. This is a lovely facial, pleasing to the complexion as well as the senses. With this treatment, clients enjoy a 30-minute face, neck and shoulder massage. Total length of time is 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The 4 Layer Facial
This is the premier anti-aging treatment. Clients experience layer upon layers of fresh natural seaweeds that cleanse deeply, rehydrate the delicate skin and vitalize prematurely aged skin. A seaweed mask topped with a mineral rich thermal mask allows for the penetration of layers. This sumptuous facial and massage treatment takes 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Aromatherapy Foot Massage with Reflexology
Slip your feet into warm lavender water, followed by a sea salt and essential oil exfoliation. Then surrender into deep relaxation for 45 minutes while acupressure points on the feet are stimulated and the feet and lower legs experience nurturing healing massage.

Calming Detox Body Wrap
Maximize the benefits of any massage treatment by allowing yourself the indulgence of being wrapped in a cocoon of exotic herbs and hot linens. This calming treatment helps encourage muscle relaxation and the elimination of toxins. This service takes 30 minutes and can be added to the end of your massage.

Mermaid Shimmer Body Wrap
In this treatment, the body is deeply cleansed with an invigorating Dead Sea mineral scrub, cocooned in a thick kelp and clay mask and wrapped in a hot sheet while the head and feet are massaged for 20 minutes. Hot moist towels are used to remove the product leaving the skin feeling smooth and replenished. To finish the treatment, a rich emollient cream with essential oils is gently massaged into the whole body. The service takes 90 minutes and you feel like a million bucks.

Infrared Sauna

At Cedar Springs we recommend using the infrared sauna several times during each cleansing week. The sessions usually take an hour with a 20-30 minute warm-up, 15 minutes of perspiring, followed by a cold shower and then another 10-20 minute session in the sauna.

The infrared rays penetrate the body over 1.5 inches, which creates a deep heating effect in the muscle tissues and internal organs without stressing the heart muscle.

After an initial warming up period, the body begins its natural cooling off process of perspiring. Three things are accomplished during this phase:

Waste products and toxins such as alcohol, nicotine and heavy metals are removed from the cells and excreted through the pores of the skin.

The skin sheds any old skin cells leaving it glowing and immaculately clean.

As the body expends energy to produce sweat, the heart beats harder and faster, which has a conditioning effect on the cardiovascular system plus is an effective weight control for people who can't exercise.

The infrared sauna is an hour well spent supporting the natural detoxification systems of the body and relaxing deeply into a comfortable heat.

Pilates and Yoga

Pilates

Pilates on the ball is first and foremost – FUN.

There are tremendous health benefits for using the big balls in our ‘Breathe and Stretch’ class, which is offered everyday in our cleansing programs.

When a person is working on the ball and using the Pilates method, several things are happening:

• torso strength is built without injuring body

• deep muscles are being isolated and trained

• the body comes into natural alignment

What makes the ball method of exercise unique is that the ball has an unstable base of support. That means that you have to use many of the body’s deep stabilizing muscles (core) in order to balance. Fluid movement and the mind- body connection are enhanced because the entire body is being used in order to stabilize the torso.

Relaxation and breathing techniques are essential components to a Pilates workout. The ball becomes an excellent spherical prop for guiding the breath and creating deep relaxation for all parts of the body.

Bouncing on the ball also creates a safe cardiovascular workout. The ball cushions your body as you bounce so there is less impact on the skeletal structure. This allows you to comfortably increase your heart rate and sweat out toxins in order to give the heart and lungs the vigorous workout they need.

And, last but not least, the ball is fantastic for stretching. Many yoga teachers find the ball an excellent prop for achieving difficult postures and facilitating relaxation.

Yoga

Many people think that yoga is about being flexible. Although yoga helps to develop flexibility, the real purpose of yoga is to help a person come into the present moment, to become more aware. The key to the present moment is our breath. As we breathe and relax we become aware of the subtle signals of our body. As we stretch, we release tension not only in the body but in mind. Yoga works on the whole person. We develop strength as well as flexibility, the ability to be courageous as well as the ability to surrender. Yoga is a wonderful exercise for body, mind and soul!
