Liana Carbón, PhD, the founder and president of The Institute of Shamanic Wisdom, is a Cuban-born shamanic practitioner with a private healing practice in San Diego, CA. Liana is an Ordained Minister and Earth Steward with IASHES, the International Association of Spiritual Humanists and Earth Stewards, and is an accredited member of the World Association of Holistic Shamans and a founding member of the Society of Shamanic Practitioners.

She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the circles she facilitates. She has been teaching and leading sacred circles internationally for over 16 years and has been a student of the metaphysical for the last 25+ years. Liana has walked with and received sacred teachings from many indigenous teachers. Her path has included the wisdom of several North American native traditions as well as the ancient spiritual traditions of the Peruvian Amazon and the Andes, and teachers in Tibet and Nepal. A Mesa carrying shaman in the Inka Q’ero tradition, Liana received the high priestess rites through her Inka mentors in Peru. In addition, she is a Sacred Pipe Carrier in the Cherokee tradition. Her teachers have included: David Thomson and Mattie-Davis Wolfe, Sacred Circles Institute; Michael Harner and Sandra Ingerman, Foundation for Shamanic Studies; Alberto Villoldo, The Four Winds; Mary Blankenship, Wiracocha Institute; Cusco-born shaman and teacher José Luis Herrera; Don Manuel Quispe, elder of the Inka Q’ero nation; Don Agustín Rivas, renowned Amazon plant medicine shaman; Charles Lawrence; Amma Bompo, well-known Bön Tibetan medicine healer; Brooke Medicine Eagle, Native American metis, visionary and sacred ecologist; Angeles Arrien, Basque anthropologist and author; Lynn Andrews, author and shaman; Margaret Lewis, dream facilitator and teacher; Raymond Begay, Navajo Medicine man; Dr. Elliot Diamond, Western doctor, Toyo Hari system acupuncturist, and healer to shamans the world over.

In her academic studies, she received three PhD’s: the first in Second Language Acquisition Studies; one in Metaphysical Studies, a third in Latin American Studies. Liana received certification through the Healing the Light Body School (TM) of The Four Winds Society under the training of Alberto Villoldo. In addition, she is a certified healer and master teacher in various healing modalities, among them Shamanic Healing, Vibrational Healing, Cranio-Sacral Visionary Healing, Aromatherapy, Crystal Resonance Therapy, and Usui, Sekhem and Tibetan Reiki.
