Description

Gary is an National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) Approved Provider.

Continuing Education Units (CEU) can be given for the following bodywork modalities: Deep Tissue Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, and Sports Massage.

In addition, CEU approved workshops are offered, which integrate several modalities to treat a region - such as "Clinical Treatment of Neck Pain" and "Clinical Treatment of Low Back Pain."

Individual or small group classes can be arranged and CEU's awarded.

Profile and Credentials

An approved provider of continuing education for bodyworkers (National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork), Gary has taught palpation skills and bodywork to thousands of students. He has a background in nursing, and served on the faculty of Heartwood Institute for more than 14 years.

Gary's years of teaching both clinical bodywork and human sciences enable him to offer his students an in-depth, yet highly practical education. He is known for his sense of humor, his talent in conveying subtle palpation skills, and his ability to present complex subjects in ways that can be easily grasped.

In addition to his own workshops, he also offers workshops at Massage Therapy Institute in Davis CA, Beyond Massage in Aspen CO, and the Ashland Institute of Massage in Ashland OR.

Gary serves on the faculty of the Ashland Institute of Massage, where he teaches kinesiology, anatomy & physiology, pathology and myofascial release.

Philosophy and Comments

Gary's chief interest is reducing chronic pain. To that end he teaches his students the underlying causes of familiar conditions such as: sciatica, low-back pain, neck pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, and thoracic outlet syndrome--as well as effective routines for treatment.

He strongly emphasizes relevant anatomy, body mechanics that protect therapists and make bodywork more effectual, and related exercise therapy that helps clients to help themselves.
