I draw from over 30 years of life experience gained through personal exploration, training, and apprenticeship with leaders in the healing and ceremonial arts. Throughout the years, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with, and often help, a diverse socio-economic population with a range of physical and mental wellness. In addition to creating ceremony and community, I’m an experienced, gifted facilitator of healing for individuals, couples, and groups. Using the healing arts of Mind/Body/Spirit Tapestry in a caring environment, I support individuals and couples along life's journey, especially during times of transition. My "listening" hands and heart combine with an intuitive, empathetic, eclectic approach to create an integrated and transformative experience.

Janice Arlene Rost, Mind/body Therapist and Minister of Spiritual Counseling and Divine Wisdom, holds a Master of Spiritual Therapy degree from an accredited Seminary of Interfaith Ministry and Counsel. Ordained June 1989 in Columbia University's St. Paul's Chapel, licensed in New York, and granted reciprocity in additional states. Work history includes a lengthy employment by Westchester County N.Y., in Social Services and the Medical Center, Corrections and Behavioral Health, as Community Social Worker for the mentally challenged.

I actively volunteer; service has included: Parent Aide for child abuse prevention, facilitator of Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) workshops, Tribes Hill Music - Board & Events, and at The Tarrytown Music Hall, Blessing of Animals.

In practice for many years supporting individuals and relationships along life's journey, I'm experienced in addressing most concerns and situations regarding the mind, body, emotions, and spirit. The work is progressive and powerful; my active and process-oriented approach is personalized and creative, heart-centered, intuitive, occasionally humorous, and collaborative. I provide a non-judgmental environment where one can be deeply heard and responded to with empathy, insight and new possibilities. Sessions can include life coaching as well as in-depth process to meet your goals. Together with you, your “inner child/inner family”, we’ll build a healthy foundation of good will, self-care, awareness, compassion and acceptance; your esteem, confidence, communication, intimacy, peace and harmony with yourself and others will be increased.

Verbal Therapy sessions are offered as well as Body Centered sessions where you can expect goals and healing to progress faster than talk therapy alone. My MindBodySpirit Tapestry techniques will balance energy within and around with words, touch, sound, images, emotive release. Hands-on-Healing can include Reiki, CranioSacral, Acupressure; Breathwork or Hypnotherapy does not involve touch. I often give “homework/soulwork” to empower and support you between sessions.

I see diverse populations of clients for a variety of reasons, from life-threatening illness to employment change, from the trauma of divorce to the joy of uniting, to managing a stressful life to just feeling stuck. Reiki – Universal life force energy. A healing modality compatible with western medicine and other forms of complementary healing. It is especially effective when facilitated by a counselor/therapist/minister whose clients benefit from psychotherapeutic techniques.

Reiki is a healing energy. Within the Universal Laws of Spiritual Consciousness, it is Unconditional Love. No matter where the person may be at a certain point in their life, Reiki will harmonize and open the heart for expansion of our love consciousness and evolvement.

Reiki is a natural, non-invasive, soft touch hands-on-technique that is thousands of years old. In Japanese, “Rei” means Divine Intelligence, “Ki” is life force energy, that which animates all living creations. Reiki – is universal or spiritually guided life force energy used in healing the mind, body and spirit. The Reiki Ray is an extremely powerful healing energy. It is one of the few forms of healing that can be used to heal oneself.

The Reiki technique balances the physical organs and glands controlling the functions of the body and its emotions. The applied use of Reiki for healing can calm, heal and enliven both the giver and the recipient. It has been reported to release emotional and mental stress and toxins, reduce or eliminate pain, chronic and acute physical problems and maintain health. It can enhance spirituality, peace, balance, and create a general sense of well being.

In Buddhist and yogic traditions, people claim to have reached an enlightened state by doing nothing more than paying attention to the rising and falling of their breath. What easier way could there be to reach such a state? Especially since breathing - following the ebb and flow of your breath - is an intrinsic part of meditation. By paying attention to your breath, you will rapidly change your state of consciousness, begin to relax, and slowly detach from ordinary awareness.

Rebirthing- Take a Breath, Transform this Moment, Heal Your Life! I've trained in the technique called Rebirthing - a simple, gentle, yet powerful breathing technique, which can transform your mind, body, emotions and spirit. It can also transform how you perceive yourself, others and the world in general. It is common for us to hold our breath and/or breath in a shallow manner when we are stressed. Many of us have never learned how to breathe deeply and fully. Holding the breath causes unexpressed emotions to get pushed into the cells in the body. The body will often react by creating physical as well as emotional problems. When we inspire fully, we are more alive and in the moment because we are taking in the nourishing breath of life.

A Breathwork session can be transformative for anyone (my mother, while in her 70’s benefited!). I use Breathwork during some hands-on healing sessions, or alone, often in a series, for anyone uncomfortable with a hands-on approach. I encourage you to participate as much as you can during and in-between sessions. I serve as a facilitator and a breath coach. Helping to ensure that you breathe in a connected manner, and suggest changes to the breathing pattern to facilitate your process throughout the session. When breathing consciously, your body will relax. You release tension and negativity, and often access memories and unconscious thoughts, that don’t serve your conscious desires and goals, the ones that keep you stuck in unhealthy patterns. We will challenge the negative patterns by reframing the thoughts that create and perpetuate them.

I offer techniques that are successful in changing underlying thoughts. Incorporating new thoughts will allow you to change behavior patterns with less conscious effort. Breathwork, rebirthing is a true mind, body, spirit integrated experience, encouraging and supporting your true aliveness with a grounded sense of joy, inner peace, and harmony. The Rebirthing method is Self–Healing and will be taught to use it for yourself during our sessions!
