Description

Kentucky Association of Hypnotherapists was founded in January of 2000 for the following purposes:

  • to establish standards and a code of ethics,
  • to establish standards of training and preparation,
  • to maintain a registry of hypnotherapists who meet the established standards,
  • to maintain a program of continuing education,
  • to provide a networking vehicle for hypnotherapists,
  • to inform the public of the benefits of hypnotherapy,
  • to provide information regarding governmental issues related to the practice of hypnotherapy.

    We are a 501 c 3 non-profit, professional organization.

You are invited to attend our programs and/or become an associate, non-voting member. The cost of programs varies. Associate membership is $25 annually.

  • Programs

Kentucky Association of Hypnotherapists generally conducts 4 meetings per year. The January meeting is an election meeting. It is a 2 or 3 hour meeting that starts with a program and concludes with a business meeting in which the officers for the new year are elected. The spring program and summer meetings are usually full day meetings. The weekend fall conference is held at the beautiful Nazareth campus in Bardstown, KY. We try to plan our meetings in parks or river-front locations to take advantage of nature.

KAH is open to various aspects of hypnosis and complementary modalities. At our fall conference we offer an early morning yoga or Tai Chi exercise for those ambitious people who get up before breakfast to exercise. We have also included programs on such complementary subjects as homeopathy, handwriting analysis, and neurolinguistic programming.

    Certification

The practice of hypnotherapy is self-regulated in Kentucky rather than being government regulated, and we trust it will always be so. In order to protect the public and the profession from untrained and unscrupulous practitioners, KAH has established basic requirements for training and ethics. KAH will certify only those applicants who meet the following training requirements:

    1. A minimum of 100 contact hours of instruction, by a qualified instructor, in the following subjects:
    a. History and nature of hypnosis
    b. Interviewing and assessment of the client
    c. Law and ethics
    d. Induction and dehypnotization (emergence) techniques
    e. Principles of post-hypnotic suggestion
    f. Habit control, including weight control and smoking
    g. Deepening the hypnosis
    h. Preparation of suggestions
    i. Reframing to remove cause
    j. Personal development
    k. Self-hypnosis
    2. Satisfactory completion of twenty-five (25) sessions of hypnotherapy conducted under the supervision of a qualified instructor in hypnotherapy.

    3. Two letters of recommendation concerning the good character of the applicant

    4. Statement that applicant has never been convicted of a felony or lost a license to practice a profession in any state.

A member may be decertified by KAH for violation of the Code of Ethics.

    Procedure for applying for certification:

An Applicant becomes an associate member first for $25.00 and then applies to be certified. The additional fee for certification is $15.00.
