Description

DANCE IS THE HIDDEN LANGUAGE OF THE SOUL. ~Martha Graham

When people ask me how long I have been dancing my answer usually is: "All my life!" And yes I feel that way.
I always liked to dance whether it was ballet, ball room dancing or just dancing in the club. When my friend introduced me to the Art of Middle eastern dance (Belly dancing) it was an eye opener for me, it was a love from the first class: I could not stand still when the music was on and my first teacher Joanna made the learning easy and fun. I love the middle eastern music and this dance form. With dancing you never stop learning even when you are a teacher yourself because there are so many other teachers and performers from whom you can learn and get an inspiration from. I constantly attend dance workshops and classes whenever and and wherever I can.

I had a pleasure to learn from Joanna (Canada), Sahra Saeeda(USA), Yousry Sharif(USA), Tito(Egypt), Suzy(Canada), Nancy Bromley(Canada), Nanna Candelaria(USA), Aldiya(Canada), Cassandra (USA), Delilah(USA), Amel Tafsout(Algeria), Sema Yildiz (Turkey),Yasmina Ramzy (Canada) Jillina(USA), Hadia(Canada) with whom I completed the Certified Teacher Training level 1 & 2 and cant wait for the opportunity to finish level 3

I am also tring myself in the belly dance costume desing and will be taking orders in the near future.

SHOW AND WORKSHOPS ON JUNE 2-3, 2012 AND WORKSHOP WITH MOHAMED SHAHIN

Mohamed Shahin is an Egyptian Born world-renowned performer, instructor and choreographer of the folkloric and Oriental dances (belly dance) of the Middle East. His expertise includes all styles of Middle Eastern dance, specializing in Tanoura (Whirling Dervish) and Saidi Tahtib (Egyptian cane dance). The Tanoura dance, which he frequently performs, uses the spinning style of the Sufi Whirling Dervishes, and is performed in a brightly colored, layered folkloric costume. The dance, as do most folkloric dances, requires stamina, precision and balance to manipulate and display the many layers.

As an innovative choreographer, Mohamed’s magnetic personality has made him a highly sought-after dance mentor not only in Egypt, but throughout the world. Mohamed is also fluent in Arabic, English & Russian which adds to his great array of skills and enables him to conduct classes in these 3 languages. He has taught, performed and judged dance competitions in dozens of countries in Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Europe and Australia. Mohamed has created his own line of teaching DVD's and he continues to travel and choreograph constantly! He is a presenter annually at the prestigious Ahlan Wa Sahlan Festival which takes place in Cairo every summer and every winter.

Mohamed's mission as a performer and instructor is to introduce the rich dance heritage of the Middle East to the West. Whirling dervish, for example, is a form of sacred Sufi dancing that has existed for centuries, but that generally remains unheard of outside the Middle East. It emulates the spinning motion of the Sufis, who use dance as a means of communing with the divine.
