My approach to care is to empower women and hence their families as much as possible. Part of my job as a midwife is knowing and understanding the parameters of excellent midwifery care, just as part of your job in preparing for birth - wherever it may take place - is to accept the responsibility for the risks involved in pregnancy, labor, and birth.

I believe that you have the right to choose your birth place and your care provider. You are in charge of and responsible for your pregnancy. I do prenatal checkups on the care you give yourself. I try to provide information and resources so that you can make the best choices for yourself and your baby. You are also in charge of and responsible for your birth. I work to help you remember that the power to give birth is yours. You deliver your baby. It is my job to support you in that knowing and that trust about the normalcy and power of birth.
