Medicine Wind Society
Description
We're a Native American educational and spiritual organization serving southern Connecticut. We offer traditional, fee-free Lakota healing ceremonies to the community. Private sessions are also available. Additionally, we hold traditional sweat lodges monthly.
We also offer cultural and spiritual presentations to schools and organizations, with an emphasis on American Indian art and ceremonial music. Our workshops and retreats cover a variety of topics related to shamanic practices, vision quests, and indigenous healing traditions.
Profile and Credentials
Lori-Ann Locke is also known as Kangi Pejuta (Medicine Crow), a name that she received after a vision quest in 1989. She is an educator and healer whose academic, cultural and spiritual background results in a unique approach to ceremony, healing & worship of the Creator. Of Cherokee and Irish ancestry, Lori-Ann developed her innate healing abilities and her love of ceremony during the years that she lived with her first teaching elder in the hills of Tennessee.
She has trained, taught and witnessed healing within the Native American tradition for over 25-years. Lori-Ann works in harmony with the Creator and our Mother Earth to help people fulfill their spiritual potential. She is dedicated to helping individuals enrich their lives through the wisdom of the ancients and the inspiration of the land.
Although she is of Cherokee ancestry, Lori-Ann’s teachers have primarily been of the Lakota Nation. In addition to her work as an educator, she is a gifted ceremonial singer and practitioner of Lakota ceremonial medicine traditions.
