I have worked in the mental health arena for over 26 years, first as a social worker for the state of Vermont in juvenile services (8 years) and later as a member of CHP, an HMO (9 years). My practice has largely concentrated on the following types of disorders:
~ Addiction counseling (especially alcohol, nicotine, gambling and eating disorders).
~ Pain management (including back, neck and migraine discomfort).
~ Anger management (dealing with emotions such as loss and grief).
~ Depression and anxiety issues.
~ Self-hypnotherapy training.
~ Panic and stress disorders (including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, an area I have first-hand experience with as a Vietnam veteran ~1968-69).
Profile and Credentials
I am a Masters level clinician, licensed as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC). I work largely with individuals but have had significant experience with adolescents and families.
I looked for office space that was more centrally located and then had the idea of getting an office on wheels....it all fail into place and within a month I was on the road and the clients all like the idea!
Philosophy and Comments
Each case presents its own requirements but in general, I work toward a solution-based treatment. Hypnosis and the training of clients in self-hypnosis are tools that I have found to be very effective. I am also skilled at relaxation techniques and yoga therapy.
In short, I am able to offer my clients a wide range of skills from which their treatment can be formed.
