Cultivating a Better Birth Experience

Eden's Garden Embraces a holistic approach to childbirth. We increase parents' confidence in the normal birth process by giving them tools to work with birth-related pain and discomfort and to prevent unnecessary interventions.

Hello, and welcome to Eden's Garden! My name is Amy Blake Rollogas. I am a wife and the mother of one daughter, Eden. Eden's birth defined me as a woman in ways I never dreamed possible.

Since Eden's birth, I have become a childbirth educator. I aslo consider myself a breastfeeding and normal birth advocate. I am certified to teach childbirth classes through ALACE (the Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators).

ALACE is a wonderful organization that trains labor assistants(or doulas) and childbirth educators. I chose to train with them because of their woman-centered approach to birth.

The prime emphasis of the ALACE program is for pregnant women to make active choices to create the best possible birth experience--whether it be in the hospital, at home or in a birth center.

Labor and birth are intense, hard work; each is unique. Through these classes you will aquire the tools to work with your body and the process of giving birth. You will leave class with the knowledge to make your own best choices at each point along the way.

It is my belief that everyone can benefit from quality childbirth education. Through my classes, you will gain a sense of responsibility for your (and your baby's) care. You will be empowered to do what your body is designed to do and to trust the birth process. I will teach you how to achieve the birth YOU want, how to choose and communicate more effectively with your provider and how to choose a birth place. We will emphasize caesarean prevention and active birthing throughout the course.

Childbirth classes are currently being offered for students in Richmond, VA and surrounding areas. Classes are held on Saturdays at 1:15 at the Wellness Village at Starling. Our next class begins July 26th.

An Informed Childbirth classes are $200 per 6 week series for the pregnant woman and her partner. Your non-refundable $25 registration fee secures your spot in the class.

If Saturdays do not fit into your schedule, I am available for private instruction on your schedule. Private classes can be tailored to fit your exact needs and can often be shorter and less expensive. Call Amy for details at 804-869-1225.
