Description

Healing the Body through the complimentary & alternative practices of Reflexology Therapy & Reiki Healing.

Reflexology helps your body to heal itself by:

• Relieving stress and muscular tension.

• Improving blood circulation.

• Opening congested or blocked energy/nerve pathways.

• Cleansing the body of toxins.

• Revitalizing bodily energy.

• Promoting homeostasis (balance) throughout the body.

Throughout the medical profession, doctors agree that most of our health problems can be linked to nervous stress and tension. Reflexology is a distinctive healing modality that has been proven effective in relieving stress and tension, relieving pain, and addressing many health problems.

Reflexology is a science that works on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all of the glands, organs and systems of the body. It is a unique method of compression using the thumb and fingers on these reflexes to relax the body while stimulating electrical nerve impulses, which releases blocked or congested nerve pathways. This improves blood circulation, promotes the stimulation of sluggish glands and organs, and helps normalize the body’s natural balance. It cannot harm the body—it simply brings it back into balance. Reflexology works on the body internally through nerve reflexes and therefore should not be compared to massage therapy, which is external.

Reflexology as a pressure therapy has been used by many cultures throughout history. Many believe it originated in China 5,000 years ago and has historical links with acupuncture and acupressure. Others believe that it originated in ancient Babylonian or Egyptian periods. The oldest proof of reflexology we have is a pictograph dated around 2330 B.C. found in the tomb of an Egyptian physician at Saqqara, Egypt. It depicts two men working on the feet and hands of two other men.

"Every patient that I operate on at New York Presbyterian Hospital gets a reflexology type treatment ..." Dr. Mehmet Oz, Professor of Surgery, Columbia University

Reiki (pronounced, ray-key) is a practice used to promote relaxation and healing and to reduce stress. This is done through the “laying on of hands”—a technique that has been practiced for thousands of years. Reiki energy flows through the practitioner to the receiver. Reiki removes negative energy blocks and raises the vibrational frequency of the recipient’s energy, thereby facilitating physical, mental, and emotional healing.

“There is no power greater than the flow of life-force energy through the hands.” Paramahansa Yogananda

Philosophy and Comments

We know from quantum physics that all matter and life throughout the Universe is energy vibrating at different frequencies. All modalities and techniques of healing including Reflexology and Reiki increase and channel the flow of energy, which brings the body and mind into a more balanced state of health.

Can Reflexology Change your life? By Randel Johnson

Well, I am not sure if it will, however, it has changed my entire world!

My first experience with Reflexology was due to injuries and with very little relief, not even with massage (I have been a Massage Therapist for 13 + yrs.). While searching for answers, I called a Reflexologist in my area. It turns out she was certified by the International Institute of Reflexology (I.I.R.). After my 1st session, I actually slept and was not in as much pain. I immediately called her to see where she received her training. While still walking with a cane (after my hip replacement), I traveled to Florida to follow her path. This is the beginning of my transformation!

Since that trip to Florida, I have and continue to implement Reflexology with my Massage. I feel it has been the missing ingredient to help take my clients to the next level of quality in life. I describe Reflexology as internal relief versus massage, which is external relief. I have been blessed to work with Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, Holistic Medical Doctors, Acupuncturists and Cancer Specialists. To the amazement of some, Reflexology has done what nothing else can do. I had a Chiropractor test my abilities, to prove the science behind Reflexology (and did)! We have seen people with Fibromyalgia have decreased pain, Neuropathy patients increased feeling in their feet, Insomniacs actually get some sleep and clients with I.B.S., their symptoms begin to diminish. These Doctors all believe in the benefit of complimentary care and see Reflexology as an added modality.

The most amazing of all was with my wife’s cancer treatment when she developed phlebitis. I had been working her feet as often as possible to help with her anxiety and nausea (which was helping). Nothing mainstream was helping her painfully swollen arm, when I remembered something about referral areas and arms vs. legs. Upon research I found a spot on her leg that was tender and corresponded to her arm area and began working. I explained to my wife how working 1 part of the body effects another, etc. Within a few days the Phlebitis was gone.

Since that 1st exposure to Reflexology my life and world has been altered. When my granddaughter began teething I said, “play with her toes and feet”, I was told, “no one can touch them; she hates it!” To this day she loves her feet touched and actually uses her feet as much as her hands! When anyone has any problem, I think what can Reflexology do to help?

To think one injury led me on a search that has enhanced my life forever. I am truly grateful for finding the world of Reflexology and all its applications. I am amazed today when I work with a client and they say “this is not what the last person did for me with Reflexology”. No, not all Reflexology training or practitioners are created equal. I recommend that people ask for an I.I.R. Certified Reflexologist when booking their appointments!

Today, my practice continues to grow with over 50% of my clients receiving Reflexology. I envision Reflexology to continue its growth, and yes, Reflexology could change your life forever!!
