Description

Certified Trager Practitioner (C.T.P), Trager Institute, Mill Valley, CA., 1982, trained with the late Milton Trager M.D., Licensed Massage Therapist (L.M.T.) (Austin School of Massage Therapy).

Tragerwork is 1 of the 5 leading forms of bodywork practiced in the world today. It is recognized by the AMTA as an independent form of bodywork. (Half of the 2000 + practitioners live outside the U.S., mostly in Europe, Japan, and Canada)

Tragerwork is not only therapeutic, but it feels wonderful !

It is non-intrusive, medium pressure, and extremely relaxing.

Even though Tragerwork is painless, it is able to release deep-seated muscle tension/pain/restrictions very effectively.

Deep tissue massage therapists I have worked on even love the work !

Relaxing passive movement is incorporated, such as : rhythmical rocking, gentle stretching, mild traction, compression, passive range-of motion, friction, (to name a few), with the added benefit of expanding and stretching the entire musculoskeletal system, while gently allowing the spine to align itself. I add some slow, medium pressure massage at the end of the Tragerwork. I do 95% Tragerwork, and 5% massage.

Tragerwork is highly effective for chronic (and acute) pain from a wide variety of neuromuscular conditions, and is also extremely effective for stress reduction.

Dr. John Teitelbaum recommends Tragerwork specifically for Fibromyalgia in his book, 'From Fatigued to Fantastic'.

Dr. Andrew Weil recommends Trager - " Tragerwork is one of the least invasive forms of bodywork, using motion to induce states of deep, pleasant relaxation. It helps facilitate the nervous system's communication with the muscles, so that it can be used as a method of rehabilitation, especially by people sufferring from traumatic injuries and other chronic neuromuscular problems. "

Deepok Chopra advocates Tragerwork :

"Milton Trager's work will benefit anyone wishing to lead a healthier and more dynamic life"

John Pearcy, President and founder of the Greater Austin Track Club says of Tragerwork : " The advantage of Trager is that the athlete can stay more limber and loose, and thus freer of muscle damage."

Emmett E. Miller, M.D., specialist in Psychophysiological Medicine and Stress Management, has stated - "I have studied Dr. Milton Trager's techniques of bodywork, and prescribe them frequently for my patients (medical and psychotherapeutic), and also corporate clients. Trager is of great value in treating a large variety of ills, and has the added benefit of creating a high level of wellness and a sense of well being."

Philosophy and Comments

Dr. Trager believed in creating a relaxing, quiet environment for the client on the table. Practitioners generally do not talk during a session, (unless it relates to the session), because Dr. Trager believed that talking interferes with mental relaxation. Quiet (or soft music) is optimal for the bodymind to totally relax. In this way, deep-seated tension/pain/restrictions can be released more effectively.

Work Hours and Fee Schedule

A session is 90 minutes.
