Description

Ana teaches the art and science of Yoga in the tradition of Patanjali. True Yoga practice is, by definition, appropriate to the present circumstances of the person practicing. It is excellent for stress reduction, rejuvenation, strengthening of the whole body and calming and focusing to the mind. One can apply the eight limbs of yoga according to personal needs, or choose to work with only one or two limbs. We can use Yoga to help ourselves in many areas of our lives. Regular, frequent practice of Yoga enhances and promotes the body's natural process of healing. As we learn to use yoga's breathing methods, we improve circulation and mental awareness. This creates harmony in the entire person and allows constant healing which is the natural function of system. Movement, postures, breathing technique, chanting and other methods are all employed in a way that is appropriate for the individual. Ana's classes in the Manhattan, KS area are limited in size, so students can enjoy more personal attention. Instruction is available for all levels, including pregnancy, and post-partum, private lessons and other special needs. Ana aims to inspire as many students as possible to create their own regular Yoga practice, thereby finding harmony for themselves and becoming promoters of a happy, healthy, peaceful world. Private lessons are available in addition to regular class time, and are recommended for those with special considerations or medical conditions. Those with medical conditions are asked to check with their physician before attending classes, and to inform your instructor before taking classes. Thank you for your interest, and here's hoping we meet soon!

Philosophy and Comments

Health is more than lack of disease. When we are healthy we are loving, kind, joyful and full of vibrant energy. The Practice of Yoga, while enhancing our vitality, also helps us to be more aware of our unconscious habits of body and mind. With this awareness of ourselves it becomes much easier to make the changes we desire in all areas of our lives.

"If the day and night are such that you greet them with joy,

And life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet scented herbs,

Is more elastic, more starry, more immortal,

- that is your success! -

All nature is your congratulations,

and you have reason, momentarily, to Bless yourSelf."

Henry David Thoreau

PRESENT MOMENT, WONDERFUL MOMENT This workshop will be held on Saturday, January 30th at Yoga Connection, 321 Poyntz Ave. from 10:00am to 12 noon. The cost is $20, or two classes on your ticket.

Traditionally, yoga is taught one on one. There are many reasons that make this the ideal way of teaching and learning yoga. Each individual has unique abilities and requirements to which the teacher must pay close attention, in order to know which practices are useful and relevant for the student. Yoga is not "one size fits all".

"Chanting is one of the most transformative and nonsectarian spiritual practices, especially since it almost immediately takes us out of our heads and beyond the mind, into realms of pure spirit and bliss." Lama Surya Das

Those who are extremely fit and healthy (such as athletes), may be able to start later. But, if you are past this early time, it is suggested that you take two private lessons instead of joining the class. During the private lessons Ana will recommend one or two personal practice sequences designed with your individual needs in mind. Call or email Ana for more information.
