Ana teaches the art and science of Yoga in the tradition of Patanjali. True Yoga practice is, by definition, appropriate to the present circumstances of the person practicing. It is excellent for stress reduction, rejuvenation, strengthening of the whole body and calming and focusing to the mind. One can apply the eight limbs of yoga according to personal needs, or choose to work with only one or two limbs. We can use Yoga to help ourselves in many areas of our lives. Regular, frequent practice of Yoga enhances and promotes the body's natural process of healing. As we learn to use yoga's breathing methods, we improve circulation and mental awareness. This creates harmony in the entire person and allows constant healing which is the natural function of system. Movement, postures, breathing technique, chanting and other methods are all employed in a way that is appropriate for the individual. Ana's classes in the Manhattan, KS area are limited in size, so students can enjoy more personal attention. Instruction is available for all levels, including pregnancy, and post-partum, private lessons and other special needs. Ana aims to inspire as many students as possible to create their own regular Yoga practice, thereby finding harmony for themselves and becoming promoters of a happy, healthy, peaceful world. Private lessons are available in addition to regular class time, and are recommended for those with special considerations or medical conditions. Those with medical conditions are asked to check with their physician before attending classes, and to inform your instructor before taking classes. Thank you for your interest, and here's hoping we meet soon!
Ana's personal practice of yoga spans thirty years, and she began teaching in 1984. She has studied under Gary Kraftsow, T.K.V. Desikachar, Kausthub Desikachar and Sonia Nelson. In 2006, Ana became certified as a teacher/mentor by the Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation, www.khyf.net in Chennai, India.
Health is more than lack of disease. When we are healthy we are loving, kind, joyful and full of vibrant energy. The Practice of Yoga, while enhancing our vitality, also helps us to be more aware of our unconscious habits of body and mind. With this awareness of ourselves it becomes much easier to make the changes we desire in all areas of our lives.
