Ananda of Seattle & Lynnwood is part of the worldwide family of Ananda Communities, churhes, meditation and yoga teaching centers, and retreats. In the Seattle area, our primary location is in the Roosevelt district, across the street from East West Bookshop (which is also part of Ananda Sangha). The local residential community is located ten miles north in Lynnwood. We offer classes in hatha yoga, meditation, raja yoga, kriya yoga, scriptures of East and West, and practical spiritual living courses. AHAA is an organization that seeks recognition by the public, all levels of government, and the health care community. We have a vested interest in protecting the right of our members to practice the Ancient Healing Arts, and to insure the same rights for future practitioners. Members directly contribute to our cause with their annual dues. Our purpose is to develop legislative channels to protect our members right to practice, and the public's right of unfettered choice. We share in the fundamental belief that each individual is in charge of his or her own health. Further, the process of generating optimum health may be facilitated by the use of a wide variety of complementary modalities, that overlap in scope and 'belong' to no particular group to the exclusion of all others.
Raja yoga meditation is a study for self mastery.Raja means king, sovereign or supreme. Yoga means link or union. It is this very link which cleanses the soul of the rust which has accumulated over time. In raja yoga we learn to connect with our true state of peace, bliss, love and power. We learn to recognize ourselves as souls, separate from the body and thereby in a true and natural way remove ourselves from the pain and sufferings of the body. We learn to think the thoughts we WANT TO think, rather than the thoughts we're USED TO THINKING , because the thoughts we are used to thinking often times cause us sorrow. We learn to understand the law of karma fully and thereby remove the root cause of all disease such that we come into a time of complete freedom from disease.
