You get one rounded 8 oz meausuring cup of ground bulk tea (weighs approximately 2-3 oz) that makes approximately 33 cups of tea using one teaspoon of herb per cup. Common Club Moss tea has been used for centuries in China to aid the elderly with memory problems. Recent studies have found that common club moss (Lycopodium clavatum) contains an enzyme (Prolyl Endopeptidase-PEP) that is potentialy effective for improving memory and reversing amnesia and alleviating the effects of Alzheimer's disease. It is a source of and contains the substances huperzine A and huperzine B, which are also recognized as a potential treatment for Alzheimer's disease. Huperzine inhibits the breakdown of acetylcholine in the brain. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that plays a key role in recognition, reasoning and memory. People with Alzheimer's may have as much as a 90% reduction of acetylcholine in their brains. Other traditional uses for the tea include the relief of postpartum pain, gout, rheumatism, chronic constipation, piles, cirrhosis of the liver (see my Profile for user comments on healing cirrhosis), renal colic, complaints of the urinary and reproductive organs, and for all problems of the liver. It is a tonic for the liver, kidneys, bladder, urinary tract, and reproductive organs. It helps remove the gravel that forms in the kidneys that leads to kidney stones. Pregnant women should not use the tea, unless advised by a physician, as it has been known to cause uterine contractions in pregnant mice. The tea has a very mild and pleasant taste and most people comment that it is very soothing and comforting.
