Four Simple Steps To End A Panic Attack

Many people experience panic attacks frequently and live their lives avoiding situations that frighten them, in many cases irrationally. With this simple technique using the four easy steps below, you can learn to end a panic attack in as little as three minutes. A panic attack is a condition of adrenaline being released into your bloodstream. A message of fear sends a signal to the adrenal glands that there is an emergency. The adrenal glands are pea-sized organs that sit on top of your kidneys. They are filled with adrenaline that,
when released into your body, gives you heightened abilities to respond to emergency situations. This emergency
response causes physical symptoms that many people misinterpret as a heart attack or other serious physical
conditions. Misinterpreting these symptoms can cause the fear response to continue. It takes three minutes for your adrenal glands to fill your body with the adrenaline response. It also only takes three minutes for your body to stop the adrenaline reaction. If you stop a panic attack as soon as it starts, the reaction only has to last for three minutes. Stopping a panic attack is very simple. All you have to do is stop the emergency message from being sent to your adrenal glands. Learn these four simple steps and your panic attack will only last for three minutes. Once you understand how this works, you never have to have a panic attack again.

Creating Your Own Herbal Tinctures

Herbal medicine is the medicine of the people. It is simple, safe, effective, and free. Our ancestors used - and our neighbors around the world still use - plant medicines for healing and health maintenance. It's easy. You can do it too. You can learn how to how make herbal tincture from fresh and dried roots as well as from fresh flowers and leaves. Then you can collect your tinctures into an Herbal Medicine Chest and begin to use them.
Tinctures are alcohol-based plant medicines. Alcohol extracts and concentrates many properties from plants, including their poisons. Alcohol does not extract significant amounts of nutrients, so tinctures are used when we want to stimulate, sedate, or make use of a poison. (Remember that nourishing herbs are best used in water bases such as infusions and vinegars.) The concentrated nature of tinctures allows them to act quickly. It also makes them perfect for a first-aid kit or herbal medicine chest: a little goes a long way.

Walking the Fire Labyrinth:
A Winter Solstice Encounter

This year a friend mentioned an event that was to be held further out west a week after our winter magic festival. She described it as a fire labyrinth ritual in which a stone labyrinth would be lit at night to be walked with conscious intent and so mark the end of the year and begin a new one, a shedding of the old and birthing of the divine child. Though I had experienced fire trauma 3 years before, I could not resist the pull and possibility of such a powerful event and it was indeed transformative just like my house fire. This event was an informal affair; no structured ritual here, just a leading to the stones when adequately dark, a mention of the solstice, and then drenching of the rags around the stones with kero. I concentrated on managing my fear and going through with this … there was no turning back. Later in a meditation, I become aware that the fire was liberation not limitation. Walking back to the house on that Sunday after my latest fire experience I feel held between two histories, ancestral and personal, and somehow sense that fire - either ritual or accidental - contains the capacity to heal even the deepest and oldest wounds.
