The goal of Ortho-Bionomy is to put the body in a position of comfort. In positions of comfort the body lets go of its attempt to be something that it is not.
Ortho-Bionomy provides options to get in touch with our “real self.” The personas, masks, and layers we put on when we go into the world, illusions that can lead to pain, can be dropped. What is left is a place of healing, comfort, serenity, and joy where no pain can touch us. Ortho-Bionomy is not completely focused on finding out why the body is holding tension. By labeling the issue we create a paradigm around the issue creating a limitation to the healing process. A session deals with what is going on with the body in that given moment and we move forward from there. We can get caught up in the story of the pain which has a history attached to it and we miss what is going on presently, in the now. Every moment the body is experiencing an unlimited amount of stimuli, commonly known as stress. Our ability to adjust to this stress by finding the path of least resistance is essential to our health and well-being. This adjustment can only occur in the present moment.

An Exploration of Synesthesia

Synesthesia is defined as a rare capacity to experience one sense when another is stimulated: to see smells, hear colors, or even tasted music. It is typically associated with certain illnesses, such as schizophrenia, severe depression, neural damage or the use of certain psychedelics, such as ayahuasca. Anyone who has done ritual has experienced an expansion in sensory awareness and level of intuition. This expanded state can be enhanced with the addition of breathing techniques, dancing, rhythmic motion, drumming, chanting, mantras, meditation, hypnotic suggestion and music. It is believed that anyone can experience the blending of sensory perception. The perceivable world is actually filled with magic and symbolism that tunes our senses of reality to another world more powerful, awesome and wonderful than we have allowed ourselves to believe. When synesthesia is activated it is not a neural malfunction, but an expansion of our senses that we can activate through practice. Many creative people have incorporated synesthesia into their work including, visual artists, Wassily Kandinsky, and Walt Disney, writer Charles Baudelaire, and composers Olivier Messaien, and Alexsander Nikolayevich Scriabin, who created the color organ.

What does thinking positively have to do with living prosperously? Good question. To put it simply, thoughts are energy, and energy makes things happen. For example, I am sure there has been a time in your life that you have felt that a black cloud has been following you around. The more you felt that way, the darker that cloud seemed to become. Many times this “poor me” attitude can send more negative energy your way. This is explained by the concept of “like attracts like”. Energy seems to be drawn to similar energy. Sometimes, people just get caught in a negative pattern or downward spiral. When we fall into this type of rut, being positive seems impossible. But that is not true. If you can conjure up a negative thought, then you can conjure up a positive thought! Believe it or not, this new way of thinking may take some practice.
