Summer Solstice is a turning point for introspection to find clarity, inspiration, and new direction. You might ask yourself what you have accomplished since last spring, and where you would like to be by the beginning of fall. At first it could be a bit overwhelming to find the direction that feels right. There may even be a sense of frustration, as the desired direction could easily be obstructed with temporary roadblocks. They will clear up as the hard angled planetary wrinkles smoothen out. Remember that achievements are not necessarily made in the outer world; they can be deeply personal, inner aspirations. With its nurturing energy the Sun in Cancer brings this inner world to light. The womb was the ultimate place of security and comfort, a place we always remember subconsciously. Once born into the world of clashing opposites, the lack of this original sense of security became the root of many dilemmas. Where do we turn for reassurance, comfort, and direction? Just as all streams end in the ocean, our souls ultimately return to the Source. Unlike the streams though, we need to make a conscious effort to reach this Source. Without a concentrated effort to know the spiritual reality of changelessness, the clashing opposites will keep throwing us back and forth from comfort and security to fear, frustration, and pain.     Read full article >>>

The Timeless Tibetan Singing Bowls

Like a stone thrown into a calm pool of water the Bowls’ harmonic resonance and overtones ignite the surface of existence. A shock wave passes through each devotee. As with the stone awakening the pools’ surface in ever expanding circles; the voice of the Bowl embraces and guides each being into synchronization with their intrinsic universal life force; their primordial nucleus. Consciousness is altered, reality reshaped and each individual of the congregation is transported into an expanded state of meditative dimensions. Within this framework of tranquility and balance the realization of mental, physical and spiritual healing is attained. The Bowls’ reverberations touch the Bodhi self within and escorts consciousness into a deeper understandings of Dharma. It is Voidness teaching, the song of AUM, the resonance of life, the ‘Bindu’, the universal chord, the ‘diamond self’... In the candlelight moment when the Singing Bowl of Drepung Monastery was first heard and the minds of thousands were released to find their natural state of bliss, a gift was seeded. That gift, from the now distant and dim past, is at our very core and available to each of us if we choose to listen.

Trance Dance - From Darkness Into Enlightenment

If we look at shamanic practices from all over the world we can clearly see that our original relationship to dancing and movement was for the purpose of connecting with a Higher Self, to worship and to heal. Our ancestors viewed nature, the earth and all of its elements as sacred, as an expression of God and the Divine. The goal then became to duplicate nature to mimic what we saw as a part of creation of life and death. Spiritual dancing is a cross-cultural phenomenon; it is something that we witness in all cultures from every continent on this planet, simultaneously embracing unique dance forms based on their environment, their perception of their reality, on the animals and elements of nature present within their domain. Their purpose in dancing was to enter the consciousness or become the spirit of the sun, moon, and various animal and plant life. It was to call in the spirits or to drive them away. We have some beautiful examples of these in the Balinese Kecak, the Hawaiian Hula, the Kerala from the hills of Malabar, the Togo from west Africa, and the Native American Ghost Dance to name a few.
