Learning to birth with hypnosis—especially for first time moms—means learning to birth without fear and pain. The first goal in the process is to overcome the fear of childbirth that has been embedded in each woman's consciousness, a natural consequence of cultural conditioning. Probably from before a woman has even thought about having a child or becoming pregnant she has been taught to believe that childbirth will be the most painful experience of her life. This is what we call being negatively hypnotized. This is not to say that giving birth is easy, it certainly is not—it probably will be the hardest work a woman will ever have to do with one of the most sensitive parts of her body—that is why it is called “labor.”

 Swimming Through Rough Waters

When life doesn't go as expected or planned for, we may be tempted to start telling ourselves horror stories.
One common interpretation is bad things are happening to us because the Universe is either uncaring, or actually has it in for us. This interpretation has it that we are being punished and that there's nothing we can do about it. The second story we often tell ourselves is bad things are happening because we are we are somehow fundamentally inadequate. This view both reflects and produces a lack of belief in one's self. Fortunately, there's a third, much better story to tell ourselves during trying times. It is an interpretation that will strengthen, rather than weaken us. In this story, we choose to reclaim our power by completely turning our attention away from blame, regrets, and fear. Instead, in this new story we view ourselves as a powerful source of positive energy, capable of doing good for others, and receiving goodness, love and support for ourselves. We bring ourselves into the Now, focusing on present options and the creation of positive outcomes.

 Hypnosis 101 Certification

Linda Gentry is founder and owner of the Missouri Institute of Hypnotherapy (MIH), providing a comprehensive intensive training and certification programs since 1996. After successful completion of "HYPNOSIS 101", certification training the participants will have the core knowledge and skill to function as a Directive Hypnotist. HYPNOSIS 101, Directive Hypnosis Certification provides 100 clock hours of classroom experience, including a minimum of 30 hrs of supervised hands on practice and 160 hours of independent study. Upon successful completion of the 260 hours of training in Directive Hypnosis the participant is certified by MIH and the International Association of Counselors & Therapist (IACT).
