Pineapples: The Healing Fruit of the Tropics

For a natural and tasty way to improve your health and boost your healing capacity, add fresh pineapple and pineapple juice to your diet. Pineapples are nutritionally packed members of the bromeliad family. This delightful tropical fruit is high in the enzyme bromelain and the antioxidant vitamin C, both of which plays a major role in the body's healing process. Bromelain, a natural anti-inflammatory with analgesic properties, encourages healing, promotes well-being and has many other health benefits. Bromelain is very effective in treating bruises, sprains and strains by reducing swelling, tenderness and pain. This powerful anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect can also help relieve osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis symptoms and reduce postoperative swelling. Additionally, bromelain can relieve indigestion. The enzyme contained in fresh pineapple helps break down the amino acid bonds in proteins, which promotes good digestion. Pineapples also provide an ample supply of vitamin C, a commonly known antioxidant that protects the body from free radical damage and boosts the immune system. Choose the fresh fruit because it has the most healing properties. Unfortunately, most of the bromelain in canned pineapple is destroyed due to the heat used in the canning process. Reality TV and the Root Chakra

Reality TV brings out the most basic feelings in people, what energy workers refer to as "root chakra" stuff. The root chakra, known in Sanskrit as the Muladhara, is the first energy bridge into the etheric body, or the energy field, that connects our life force to our form. The root chakra is located in the area of the perineum, between the genitals and anus. Because of its location low in the spine, it acts as the "root" grounding the meridian lines of the Universe(s) into the body, grounding us into the Earthly realm itself. The root chakra supplies us with the energetic ability to take care of ourselves and master the elements, both tactile and metaphoric. What's wrong with Reality TV stimulating the first chakra? Nothing. People who truly manifest a healthy root chakra are those who get along well with their surroundings, with themselves, and have a healthy alliance with adversity. People who don't have a well-developed root chakra constantly compete, have little respect for their environment or the people in it, and don't feel that they are functional in themselves or as part of All That Is. Sound familiar? It should. We are being spoonfed root chakra dis-ease on prime time television, on every major network (and some not so major), every night of the week as entertainment. It would be fine if Reality TV inspired people to examine their tendencies to compete to the detriment, or evaluate their own ability to be the sole caretaker of themselves or their household ... but it doesn't.

Asking your Angels for Help |

When we call upon Angels it is not so much that we are calling them to us, as we are calling ourselves to be receptive to them. Angels are always present, always at hand to give assistance. They do not come and go any more than heaven comes and goes. They are not sitting in an Angel waiting room somewhere out past Pluto waiting for a service call to come in. They are with us in every place and at every time. When we call upon Angels in meditation, prayer, sacred ceremony, or with a simple thought in daily life, we are really preparing ourselves to receive communion with them. Our awareness heightens, our consciousness rises, our subtle senses begin to open and expand. Our energy increases and the frequency that we vibrate at also increases. Generally one of our senses leads the others in sensing heavenly Angelic presence. Whether this is feeling, seeing, hearing, heat, tingling, visioning, or knowing, one sense tends to be out front and, with practice, becomes the signal that we are making a deeper connection. You can trust and follow your own leading sense to guide you into ever more closer relationships with Angels.

A New Perspective in Medicine

When Descartes struck his deal with the church so many years ago in order to obtain bodies for dissection, he left behind a legacy of separating mind from body. Descartes had never believed this separation to be a true representation of how humans functioned. The separation of body from mind/spirit was one of convenience at the time that Descartes was negotiating with the Church to have access to human cadavers to dissect and study. The Church wanted to maintain undisputed authority over all spiritual matters and the artificial distinction of vital essence and body was created as a boundary. Fast forward to the 21st century where this arrangement of convenience has now acquired status as "fact" simply because it has remained undisputed for so long. This view along with the prevailing view of Newtonian science has left little room for exploration in medicine outside of the limitation of these perspectives. Yet science marches on in other forums as our evolution demands. It is growing impossible to continue to hold this separation of mind from body as true in the face of mounting evidence from the scientific community.

After 25 years of Buddhist study, pilgrimage and Dharma teaching I am often asked to lead a spiritual pilgrimage into Tibet. My Himalayan sojourns have blessed my life with wonderful Tibetan friends, teachers, insights and miracles. It has been a deeply personal journey of which I have been reluctant to share with anyone other than my closest loves. This year, for reasons beyond my clear understanding, I have chosen to offer myself as guide to the spiritual presence that is Tibet.
