Feng Shui and the Emotions of a Home |

The flow of a home's energy, or chi, will affect the emotional well being of the residents. This in turn effects how an individual moves through their daily activities - whether it's energetically, lackadaisically, focused etc. When there is conflict among the members of the household, or within the individuals themselves, we will often times find an imbalance in the environment that either created the discord, or at the very least perpetuates it. Feng Shui observations pinpoint the areas of blocked energy flow that are stagnant and creating distress in the inhabitants. This causes remarkable subconscious changes and imbalances that can be noted in altered behavior, personality, and even manifest in physical dis-ease. Creating harmony and balance in one's home will ensure the emotional well being of those that live in the space. It is a vital element in choosing a home, as well as furniture placement, wall color, window treatments, accessories, textile choices, flooring and more. It becomes quite relative when building a home, as the number of doors and windows, and their placement are known to have impact on the inhabitants, including their actions.

How The Subconscious Mind Works |

Have you ever daydreamed? Have you ever missed an exit off the freeway or taken a wrong turn because your mind wandered somewhere else? Daydreaming is a form of hypnosis. When we chop vegetables for dinner, we can become hypnotized. When I go through my workout routine, I can become hypnotized. I have to keep a pen and paper handy because I suddenly get a fresh, creative idea or I remember to calendar something that I had previously forgotten. We all experience some form of hypnosis every day - chopping veggies, driving or exercising. When we are in a state of hypnosis, our conscious mind is relaxed and our subconscious mind is susceptible to suggestion, while simultaneously we are very aware of our surroundings and what is happening. You have heard about the left-brain and right-brain. The left brain is our logical mind - the one that says: "Don't touch the stove; you'll get burned," "I have to go to work today," or "Pick up the dry cleaning." The right brain is the creative mind - the subconscious mind and the place where the inner child resides. Our subconscious mind has a 10 year-old mentality. It stops growing by the age of 10, and that is why our dreams can be strange and symbolic. It is so the subconscious brain (the inner child) can understand and process.

To learn how to fulfill your emotional needs necessitates that you study how to Self-parent yourself. Self-parenting is heart work. The primary objectives of Self-parenting exercises are to help you fulfill your emotional dependency needs that were not met during your childhood. Emotional dependency needs are the intimacy, nurturing, unconditional love and boundary protection that a person needs in order to feel safe, sane, and secure in the world. Consciously fulfilling your emotional dependency needs will allow you to function in the world as an emotionally mature, highly functional adult. Fulfilling your emotional dependency needs is a Self-parenting educational process that teaches you how to be emotionally intimate with yourself and others, unconditionally love and accept yourself and others, nurture yourself and others, and how to maturely protect your boundaries so that you will feel safe and secure in the world. When you feel emotionally safe you will willingly reconnect with your repressed feelings, memories and emotions that are still frozen behind ego defenses that you needed when you were a child. When you were a child you needed your childlike defenses to feel safe, but they are no longer necessary because you are now an adult who is learning how to parent yourself.
