Journey To The Animals offers Animal Communication and Animal Healing (LONG DISTANCE HEALING). I communicate with your animal telepathically about anything, both during individual consultations and throughout my healing work. During communications, you, I, and your animal discuss problems, issues, needs, what is important to you and your animal, and find solutions.

Should healing be an option, I offer shamanic healing, soul retrieval, reiki, energy work, and animal counseling.

I find that soul retrieval, a holistic cornerstone of shamanic healing, can be useful in cases of emotional upset (anxiety, depression, loss, insecurity); physical problems (difficulty walking, back pain, and recovery from illness); and past traumas: abuse, stress, feeling depleted, life changes, and just plain “not feeling good.”

Soul retrieval returns soul parts that left an animal due to trauma, stress, shock, or illness. As part of its process, soul retrieval involves determining what your animal needs for healing (the answer may not be a retrieval), removing “intrusions” (non-self energies that filled the voids left by departing soul pieces), and counseling, which helps your animal integrate the returned soul pieces and change the belief/attitude complex that created soul loss in the first place. Counseling also provides support for you and your animal friend. In addition, ritual work helps clear “old stuff” of the past, releases charged emotions, and celebrates the new change.

Other elements of shamanic healing may also include power animal retrieval, “soul theft” recovery, energy work and other healing techniques guided by spiritual helpers, and psychopomp work (assisting and comforting an animal who has or is transitioning to the “other side”).

I also offer “emergency services,” for times of trauma, death, or disappearances, when you feel your animal needs immediate help. (I am not always home, but will get to you as soon as possible.)

At the age of 15, I had experiences of seeing animal souls hover above their bodies after death at a veterinary hospital where I worked for two summers. The souls came to me. Frightened, I did not understand they were asking me for help and did not know what to do.

Years later, in 1999, I had a mystical experience in which a horse and two cows told me I needed to work with animals. Profoundly startled, I never asked how this was to be, and so, launched into a veterinary assistance program. For more than eight years, I worked with animals in veterinary hospitals, kennels, and an animal shelter. Soon, I discovered there was more.

When I moved back to Vermont, I discovered Spirit Hollow, a center for shamanic studies, in Shaftsbury. I have finished the three-year “Seeing With The Heart” program, and participated in related classes and activities, including a complete soul retrieval course. Through a series of synchronicities, I combined my experience with animals and shamanic healing, and began doing soulwork for animals.

Prior to this, I took several courses in basic shamanism and received my first soul retrieval, followed by more than two years of therapy with a clan mother. My sessions involved taking shamanic journeys to find answers.

A reiki practitioner, I am also certified in massage for dogs, cats, and horses (offered locally), have taken a variety of animal communication classes, and studied a number of healing techniques for humans.

Earlier in my life, I took care of cows, trained a horse for the Vermont Trail Ride, and exercised polo ponies.

SOUL RETRIEVAL: RETURNING SOUL PART(S) THAT LEFT DUE TO TRAUMA, SHOCK, ILLNESS, OR STRESS

The shamanic perception of dysfunction is energetic:

This is a matter of the presence or absence of the animal’s own energy. When a soul part separates from the animal through trauma, shock, illness, or stress, it creates a void, which can then fill up with “intrusions,” or displaced energies the animal cannot use. This unwanted energy causes disturbances, disharmony, dis-ease, dysfunction, imbalance, and distress in the physical and subtle bodies. Meanwhile, the “lost” soul piece goes to the spiritual realms, where it remains safe and pure until soul retrieval, a basic tool of the ancient healing art of shamanism, occurs.

How do you know if your animal friend needs healing: The effects of soul loss may show up in the physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual bodies as changed energetic patterns. Soul loss occurs when an animal experiences trauma, shock, illness, or stress, such as: serious injury, repeated accidents, a string of bad luck, surgery, abuse, loss of a loved one (animal or human), jarring noises or situations, and events that provoke fear, anxiety, pain, anger, worry, or feelings of insecurity.

Some Common Symptoms of Soul Loss: Includes depression, chronic fatigue, apathy, blank-looking eyes, inability to heal, debilitated state, and conditions that medicines cannot help. Also changes in behavior after some incident or event, compulsive/repetitive patterns, and addictive behavior (attempting to fill an internal void, such as ingesting foreign objects or overeating). As well as relationship problems (with other animals or humans) and past life trauma.

Soul Retrieval Is done by the shamanic practitioner, who journeys or travels to the spiritual realms to heal others with the help of loving, compassionate, and gentle spiritual beings. These spiritual helpers guide the practitioner to healing solutions and assist with the healing.

Soul retrieval brings back soul parts that are needed and useful to the animal at the time of the work. The returning soul pieces often indicate why they left, but we never bring back the trauma itself. Instead, we bring back the true essence of each soul part with its vitality and gifts. The retrieved soul pieces restore the missing soul energy to the animal, thus initiating the animal’s own healing.

Return of lost soul pieces enables your animal friend to recover from the trauma, stress, shock, or illness that caused the imbalance and dysfunction. I then help your animal to readjust and integrate the new energies. Depending on the issue, you may need to do some remedial training and/or help and support your friend during the healing process in whatever way (s)he needs.

I like to give special attention to each animal in a loving and caring way, and support both animal and client through whatever healing process I am guided to provide.

SOUL RETRIEVAL SCHEDULE

I have tailored the teachings and practice of human soul retrieval to suit animals. I begin with a “preliminary” to check in with your animal, discuss the problem, explain what I do, and get your animal’s permission to do the work. A day or so later, we do the soul retrieval, which is preceded by a divination to determine what kind of work your animal needs, and an extraction to remove intrusions.

After a few days, we do the first of two follow-up “counseling” sessions (the second is a week later). Counseling helps your animal re-orient and integrate the retrieved soul pieces, get rid of “old stuff,” release charged emotions, and gain a new perspective on life.

*NOTE: Your animal may show changes after soul retrieval. As with people, they can feel spaced out, a little disoriented, more sensitive, or even energetic. Most want to sleep a lot. They need to take it easy, rest, and just be quiet for the first few days. They need time to re-acclimate and love being pampered at this time. It can take a while for them to integrate and absorb the full effects of soul retrieval.

Also, your animal may relate differently with other pets and family after a soul retrieval (which can also happen with people). Sometimes untrained puppy soul pieces return and need extra care. Your pet is likely will be more open and receptive to any needed training touch-ups.

I had a scare recently when my cat, Katinka, ate some Rimadyl (an arthritis medication prescribed for dogs). The medicine is toxic for cats and, in Katinka‘s case, caused acute renal failure. The veterinarians who worked on Katinka gave her a slightly better than 50% chance of pulling through. I was devastated. A good friend of mine came across Phebe's website and contacted her for me. Phebe agreed to do a soul retrieval and healing work on Katinka.

Phebe is a dedicated and focused professional who has a deep connection with animals. I knew as soon as I spoke with her that she was both objective and caring and that she was extremely skilled in the healing techniques that she would be using with Katinka. I have personally had some experience with Shamanism and Phebe clearly was applying the same skills and knowledge to her journeys with animals. She worked wonders--I firmly believe that Phebe's skill helped Katinka pull through the crises so quickly.

In our conversations, Phebe was very reassuring and had a great sense of humor. She really appreciated all of Katinka‘s communications with her, even the simplest. For instance, Phebe laughed and thought it was great when Katinka said she was absolutely certain that she would be coming home even though the final test results weren’t in yet. Because Katinka‘s case was so acute, Phebe worked extra hard for her and paid extra attention to her, which I feel not only helped Katinka through this crisis but helped me as well.

Phebe‘s check-ins with me were very insightful and she frequently expressed that it was an honor to work with Katinka. In truth, it was an honor for us to work with Phebe. Katinka is a happy, healthy, mischievous kitten today, and I am a happy cat mommy loving the fact that Katinka is playing with her sister and hounding me for food!

We had three wonderful dogs that got along and really enjoyed each other's company as well as ours. Jackie [foreground], Molly [left], and Aurelia [right] are their names. Jackie unexpectedly passed away at 13 years old this past December.
