Barbara Lee always knew she could heal herself since childhood. No one gave her instruction, but if she had a stomach ache or a headache, she knew instinctively how to quiet down, focus, and release the illusion of pain.
Then, like everyone else, she learned that being sick was helpful... days off from school, more attention, and so on. So life went on. Yet some part of her always held onto the need and ability to heal.
Becoming analytical in an effort to find answers, she received her bachelors in Chemistry, graduating cum laude. Then, wanting a field where she helped people heal in some way, she went to graduate school to receive her doctorate in Optometry, graduating 'With Distinction.' She soon became a very busy and popular doctor due to her patience, warmth, and competence. Although satisfying, she still needed to find something to create real healing, in herself and those around her.
Her path began to change in 1996 when she discovered energy work, alternative healing, the mind-body connection, and other healing elements that would permanently alter her life. She could not learn fast enough, and soon attend classes after work regularly. She began practicing various forms of meditation. She digested book after book, applying new philosophies and techniques to her life, to see if they would work.
After attending energy classes in the late '90s, a friend began teaching her about Reiki. This method felt like a coming home. She studied, attended classes, received certification, but it was ultimately the time spent in self-healing that gave her the best understanding of the Reiki process.
She has been through Reiki I & II twice, and Reiki Master/Teacher level 4 times, with 3 certificates. Her practice has been flavored by so many teachers.
She also has attended classes or workshops by:
Dr. Wayne Dyer; Gary Renard; Marianne Williamson; James Van Praagh; Doreen Virtue; Yogi E- Eric Walrabenstein; Sonia Choquette; Laurelle Gaia and Michael Baird; Sunny Johnston; Neal Donald Walsch; Jai Uttal; Marsha Craven; Chrisiane Northrup, MD; Brian Weiss, MD; and continued certification through National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
When teaching classes, her ability accept others as the perfect beings they are and to take her role as a simple assistant in the process of learning and healing has reinforced a deep humility that guides her through this path.
