The Ministry of Sacred Arts and Sound

Description

The Ministry of Sacred Arts and Sound is a school for the creation, design and research into spiritual tools.

The Ministry of Sacred Arts and Sound began as a research project. Its founder Adhi Moonien Two Owls began investigating the application and ceremonies associated with sacred objects and tools in 1989. Through her research in museums and art galleries, she observed a pattern of “Unidentified Ceremonial" objects displayed with little knowledge to their use. She also noticed a lot of references to “primitive” religion and “naive” spiritual practices. Adhi perceived more to the objects than just simple naïve tools for the appeasement of imaginary forces. As a trained visual artist, evolving healer and shaman Adhi noticed there were times when something made itself. Or to state it another way, sometimes there seemed to be a higher consciousness at work. The result was a painting or object that transformed those who looked at it or interacted with it. Some fine art examples of this would be a Rothko painting, Andy Goldsworthy installation, or the Monet water lilies paintings. Adhi also noticed that there were times when an object or series of objects transformed a place from dull to higher energy and this in turn awakened the consciousness of those who came in to the space. Stone Linghams, Mandalas, Iconographic images and some of the statues found in Buddhist temples exemplify this ability to shift energy. By looking for a language pattern in sacred and non-sacred forms, Adhi realized that one can deliberately put particular materials, colors and forms together and achieve a predictable effect on human consciousness.

Adhi began to experiment with putting different materials together, under various circumstances and began to discover that there is a pattern of what will work, hold and move energy. She discovered that one can have a clear intention to move energy, yet if the object you are using is not properly made, then it will not give the desired results. Further research uncovered that certain materials and combinations of materials can be used for their focusing and grounding properties; for example bee’s wax and tree saps for binders and glue, give much better results than petroleum derived products. Certain metals move energy better than others for example Gold being the best for moving energy and lead for grounding out energies. We see these in our modern world as the plating on electrodes and the lead rooms where x-rays are performed. There is also the difference between organic and inorganic. Organic materials hold and move energies far better that inorganic. Yet if you want a completely neutral material for a dowsing tool, plastic works well. These are only a few examples of the work and research being done by Adhi at the Ministry of Sacred Arts and Sound.

The educational aspect for The Ministry of Sacred Arts and Sound developed as Adhi saw the need for healers, shamans and other light workers to have tools and objects that followed the patterning that she was seeing in her research. Adhi saw that although healing techniques are taught correctly, the students then would buy sacred objects and tools from new age outlets that import objects made by those who had no knowledge of what they are making. Adhi also realized that awareness of these underlying energies and the correct use of them is a dying art form. There are very few teachers who have survived and can teach the tradition methods. Adhi’s role as an educator is to help keep the traditions alive. The School draws from many spiritual traditions and continues to research and develop new understandings based on application and design. The Ministry of Sacred Arts and Sound offers an apprenticeship program and workshops through out the year. Adhi travels and teaches a wide variety of people and enjoys sharing her findings with those who seek to broaden their knowledge of sacred objects.
