My first movement practice was dance. I started when I was two years old at my sister's dance recital, romping through the aisles in the audience and mimicking the performers onstage. My parents, slightly embarrassed and probably hoping to avoid this scenario every year, enrolled me in dance lessons as soon as they could. I continued studying dance throughout my youth and eventually earned a BFA in Modern Dance from Texas Christian University. As an adult, I have continued performing and choreographing dance around the country. To say that I have always enjoyed and appreciated the pleasures of moving is a bit of an understatement; for me, dance is a spiritual experience.
Private Sessions (Pilates or Resonance Healing)
The Pilates Method is a conditioning program founded by Joseph Pilates that works to educate and balance the muscles of the body. The exercises strongly focus on the core muscles of the body (abdominal muscles, muscles of the spine, pelvic floor), with the idea that from a strong center, your limbs can move freely and with support. Pilates works your muscles in a lengthened capacity which increases the bodyfs flexibility, decompresses the joints, and creates elongated and toned muscles. Practicing Pilates improves breath, alignment and overall posture.
Resonance Healing is a hands-on healing process that works through informed touch, intuition and imagery. Healing happens through the layers of bone/muscle, emotion/organ, nervous system/energy and spirit. The blocks that occur in our bodies filter through different levels of our being. There is an order to the way that we naturally release the tension patterns that cause chronic pain and habitual misalignment. With Resonance Healing, the healer tunes into which layer the body is prepared to work on, and allows/guides the body to open, shift and release.
