Aloha, my name is Darrell Grindstaff and I am an artist/musician based in Honolulu, Hawaii. My Web site features original fine art paintings of Hawaiian scenes, fine art prints, illustrations, photography, my first poster, some 3D illustrations, one short 3D animation and my screen-printed Mighty Mo, Bad To The Bone T-shirts and tank tops, which commemorate the USS Missouri battleship. (The USS Missouri is now a floating museum permanently located at Pearl Harbor, just a ship's length from the USS Arizona Memorial.)
I've enjoyed seventeen years in the print/publishing business and have been blessed to have had more than 100 magazine illustrations and several magazine cover illustrations published. I have posted many samples of these illustrations at:
I believe we live in one of the most exciting times in the history of mankind. Never before has so much opportunity been available to the individual. This is due largely to the proliferation of computers and software. Nearly anyone can work and save enough to buy the software to become a programmer, recording musician, artist, writer, publisher, videographer, movie director, Web master, internet store owner, etc. Sure it takes hard work to learn those programs and get good at them, but, in life, you can be a "watcher" or a "doer." I choose to be a "doer."

Here is an example of a commissioned painting. The client wanted the top of the painting to follow the slope of his ceiling. The large four-foot by six-foot painting fits perfectly in the space it was designed for. To see how it looks in its final setting go here:
My other great passion is music, particularly jazz. It's a complex and intricate music and I don't expect it to appeal to everyone. In fact, I think it would be a mistake to try to appeal to everyone. To me, music is like food in the sense that one person likes Italian food, another likes Korean food, yet another likes Chinese food. And you don't have to be Chinese to like Chinese food. It's all good food, it's just a matter of personal taste.
