Description

The Alexander Technique is a simple, practical method for re-directing tension
into useful energy. Private lessons provide an opportunity to observe how
habitual movement patterns can interfere with our daily lives and create dis-
comfort. The principles of Mr. Alexander's discoveries are applied to a wide
range of activities, from highly specialized performance skills to the everyday
tasks of sitting, standing and walking. Our movements are guided into unhabitual
territory by promoting awareness through the use of gentle hands-on work. We
learn to unleash more of our inherent balance, vitality and grace.

Profile and Credentials

I have studied the Alexander Technique since 1988. I completed the 1600 hour
teacher certification program at The Alexander Alliance in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in April 2003.
I am a teaching member of the Alexander Technique International.
My B.A. degree is from Kean College of NJ in special education with a concentration in psychology. I have extensive teaching experience in elementary
and secondary education, rehabilitation services and long-term care.

Philosophy and Comments

I believe that the Alexander Technique offers an opportunity to bring ease and
balance into our lives through a process of mind/body integration. We all
have habits to cope with cultural pressures, family pressures, school pressures
and personal pressures. Some of these patterns are helpful and necessary and
some no longer have a beneficial function to your mind or body. This education
is a look at differentiating between what you need to manage efficiently and
where you can allow yourself to change.

Work Hours and Fee Schedule

My hours are flexible. My fee is $50 for a 50 minute lesson.
