Profile and Credentials
Originally from Long Island, New York, Dr. Ted Cunningham attended Life University, in Marietta, Georgia, where he received two degrees. While attending the College of Undergraduate Studies and the College of Chiropractic concurrently, he received degrees in both 'Nutrition for the Chiropractic Sciences' and a 'Doctorate in Chiropractic', graduating in December 1992, and March 1993, respectively.
Dr. Cunningham has played hockey for more than 20 years. His high school team, St. Anthony's high school of Huntington, Long Island, New York, won the state championship in 1984. Later he played with the Omaha Lancers Junior 'A' hockey-club during the 1986-87 season. Back and neck injuries that occurred while playing hockey and from automobile accidents motivated him to find relief from the stresses he felt. After meeting many influential chiropractors and restoring his health through chiropractic care, Dr. Cunningham quickly researched chiropractic as a profession. The energy, caring, philosophy and sense of purpose he has found in this discipline, the Dynamic Essentials, the philosophy of his Alma Matter, Life University, convinced Dr. Cunningham to dedicate his life to serving people through chiropractic.
A strong believer in "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" philosophy, Dr. Cunningham has created a personal, as well as a corporate, mission statement, which inspires him. Part of his personal mission is to be "selflessly committed to communicating chiropractic, to checking, and adjusting as many people as divinely possible." You might just see him adjusting someone, somewhere, because of this passion…
Dr. Cunningham is active in his community of Kirkland, WA through several diverse organizations. He has helped coach a youth team in the Sno-King Hockey League; is an Ambassador for the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce; hosts an annual event which increases safety awareness for children called Kid's Day America; hopes to be a fitness/wellness coach and/or a mentor to local teens in the new Kirkland Teen Center; and in May 1999 graduated from the Leadership Institute, a joint community organization on the Eastside connecting Kirkland, Redmond, and Woodinville.
Dr. Cunningham has lived in the Seattle area since November 1993; his practice has been located in Kirkland since March 1997. He enjoys many different physical activities, including yoga, karate, weightlifting, water skiing, and snowboarding. His hobbies include travel, personal growth and continued learning programs related to chiropractic, writing, and film/theater. In the future he hopes to collaborate with health conscious, successful entrepreneurs in the design and construction of fitness equipment. Dr. Cunningham may also be involved in the distribution of health products, production audio books, and writing fitness and/or wellness guidebooks in the next few years. He is currently producing a state-of-the-art chiropractic CD-ROM to bring chiropractic education to big businesses, enhancing chiropractic’s image; and is in pre-development of a revolutionary healthcare software product.
